Built for engineers, architects, and designers who are on the move, the SpaceMouse Pro Wireless from 3Dconnexion uses their patented 6-Degrees-of-Freedom (6DoF) sensor and 15 programmable keys to manipulate digital content and camera positions in CAD applications. Push, pull, twist, or tilt the controller cap to pan, zoom, and rotate your 3D drawing, while using your other hand to simultaneously utilize a standard mouse to select, create, or edit models.
3Dconnexion’s SpaceMouse Pro Wireless uses 2.4 GHz connectivity and a rechargeable internal lithium-ion polymer battery that lasts for up to 2 months, based on usage times of 8 hours per day, 5 days a week. Included is a carry case, a USB Type-A universal receiver, a USB Type-A twin port hub, a 4.9′ micro-USB to USB Type-A cable, and a 1.6′ micro-USB to USB Type-A cable.

After seeing many Sketchup tutorials online that used this mouse to navigate around models, I bought one. It’s not magically transformative, but it definitely streamlines some tedious Sketchup processes. The ability to rotate and navigate around the model while the mouse is actively engaged in creating a line, for example, rather than having to start the line, switch to the orbit tool, position the model so that you can see the next point, and then switch back to the draw tool, is really useful. You just select the draw tool and then use the mouse to move around so that you can accurately draw the line. I bought the wireless version, because I just figured that for an extra 30 bucks, it was worth it, but I’m sure the wired version works the same way. I haven’t fully configured the buttons yet. I did adjust the overall speed to be a bit faster, which really improved the handling. Overall, probably very valuable in the long term.

I was pretty excited to use this in my applications for architecture, but for the price I don’t find that it makes any great improvements in my efficiency. It doesn’t communicate with Lumion, and I think it’s more for engineering or industrial design.

Took me some time to get used to controlling the 3D model with this because it is just different than using a mouse. It comes with several training software programs to help you get used to it and the software is well written and highly customizable for individual applications. Although it was expensive, I believe it was worth it and will make my 3D work much more intuitive.

This is my first Spacemouse Product and I was curious how it would perform. It’s been a game-changer in that I no longer have to worry about different camera setups between Rhino and Blender. Both follow the same commands so movement between programs is seamless.

It is becoming integral in my life. the first one died after 6 years of daily usage. this one is my first Pro and I like it. I just need to learn using the shortcuts more.

Makes moving your 3D object or scenes easy without having to switch tools and constantly having to use the mouse. The buttons add extra function too. Setup was pretty easy and it comes with training software that helps you to learn how to use it.
