The Aqua-Pure AP430SS Scale Inhibition System helps extend the life of appliances that use hot water (e.g., water heaters – standard and tankless and washing and dishwashing machines), as well as plumbing fixtures (e.g., faucets, pipes and shower heads). Offers a controlled dosage of polyphosphates for maximum system performance and cartridge life (avg. cartridge life is 4-6 months).

This unit was recommended to use on the inlet side of a tankless water heater. It install pretty easily and the cartridge is easily replaceable. It’s all metal construction, so more durable than the plastic units you typically see on the shelf. I have two of these units. One was install almost a year ago and seems to be working fine. Only time will tell if it’s successful in prolonging the life of the tankless heater. Depending on your water and water use, you need to replace the filter cartridge every 6-12 months.

This unit works on a siphon principle and depends on a large volume of water passing trough the 3/4″ water line to draw the chemical out of the canister. That fact is not found anywhere in the desciption. Gallons used at the necessary and stated flow rate to canister depletion should be provided in the description.
