This replaced 2 monitors: A 144Hz 27 1080p Acer gaming monitor and a vertically mounted 20 Dell. Overall I’m very happy. Pros: 1. Huge amount of real estate. Now instead of snapping two windows side by side I have 4 and it works pretty well. With few exceptions it is almost like having 2 monitors without bezels side by side. Exceptions are applications that don’t scale well when their windows are resized like remote desktop client. 2. Colors are fantastic and I didn’t notice any difference between refresh rate of 144Hz (old monitor) and 75Hz (this one). 3. Gaming @ 21:9 is great. I really only play one game (Dota 2,) but it works really well. Everything scaled correctly and 1050Ti in my laptop easily maintains 80-90fps @ 3440 x 1440 with decent quality settings. Make sure you use DP cable since HDMI performance was very poor; I suspect because laptop was using Intel video card over HDMI. 4. It has built-in ambient light to lighten the area behind and below the monitor and make it easier on the eyes to work/play in dark rooms. I actually use Lightpack already, but it is a nice touch. Cons: 1. Hard to find content that scales well to ultrawide 21:9. 4K videos actually look great with VLC cropping the black bars, but it does take a lot of processing power in real time so I just re-encode in advance to fit the resolution. 2. Not really a con since this is a personal preference, but at default brightness but at default brightness this will annihilate your retinas. Even in Eco mode I had to reduce brightness quite a bit.

I just live this monitor: so comfortable to adjust from any angle, large enough to view 2-3 spreadsheets at a time. My work efficiency tripled from the time i used my laptop’s monitor. Worth every penny!

It took me forever to decide on a new monitor, but I finally went with this one after seeing it on Wirecutter and also doing a lot of other research. I was initially very confused about the 50Hz refresh rate over-clockable to 100Hz and how this would play with an Nvidia GPU given that the monitor is Freesync, but after seeing a Youtube video where the overclocking was shown to work I took the risk … and it worked flawlessly on both Windows and Ubuntu. Not that it’s necessary for Linux, but it makes Windows based gaming much nicer. Beyond the refresh rate, I’m really enjoying having an ultrawide. The curved screen gives me lots of space but doesn’t seem too large the way a flat ultrawide does. I haven’t experienced any screen shearing or dead pixels etc. I haven’t checked whether the FreeSync is working with my 2070 Super … but haven’t noticed anything that made me feel like I needed to bother. Cosmetically it’s very nice and the monitor stand is solid. The fact that the monitor can swivel side to side and not just up and down is a nice touch. Overall you get an awful lot here for the price point especially compared to many others on the market. Highly recommend this one!

Found this in the wirecutter entry https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/best-ultrawide-monitors/ This monitor is not the cheapest, and it’s not the best at any one thing (although not particularly bad at anything either). But for an all around 1440p ultrawide that is affordable, you can’t really beat it.
