this 8 core CPU is just great, whether for gaming or productivity.

Performs as advertised. Serious speed. This beast needs serious cooling. Neither a big air cooler nor a 120 mm x 120 mm radiator can keep it below 90C at full load . About to install a 120mm x 360mm cooler.

B&H had in stock for a reasonable price when many others did not. Bought this CPU to build a computer for my wife have better performance using photoshop and light room. Outperforms previous intel CPU she was using for this application.

I purchased this processor for my gaming PC. 8 cores and 16 threads is plenty for my gaming and streaming needs. It runs cool and is more efficient than the 11th gen Intel counterparts. The initial launch price was a little high but BH Photo & Video had it on sale which made it a great deal. I paired it with an RTX 3080Ti and performance is nothing but spectacular. This is probably the best processor for gaming unless you need more cores for creativity apps.

Getting 72c max on a NH-L12s with the latest Chipset driver and BIOS. Very fast, would recommend.

couldnt be more happy with the processor. It is a huge upgrade from a ryzen 5 3600x.

This was a planned upgrade from 2nd gen to 5th gen. BHPhoto was running an incentivized [cc application] promotion (they additional offered to pay sales taxes) plus an on sale price. I paid over $60 less than at Amz or Negg prices. Good deal. Thanks BHPhoto! (Plus my old 2700 is selling for $70 more used on eBay than I paid for it new two years ago: hard to go wrong.) The Ryzen 5800X is both a measurable and user noticeable speed bump over the older gen 2 2700. (It comes at a cost of 40W more power, but I have an 800W PS, so no issues there.) This is the final upgrade to my AM4-tech build of 2020, and should do me for a few more years.

I was running a Ryzen 7 2700X on an ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac. The upgrade was very easy. Manually upgrade the BIOS and then swap processors. No issues. The 5800X is noticeably faster then the 2700X. System is more responsive and boot time has decreased. Really great purchase. I’m even able to run my RAM at a higher speed.

Coming from a 6700k this was a massive upgrade and I’m very pleased overall with the performance of this CPU. Paired with a 3070 and this thing is fire. Would have gone for a 5900x if they were in stock but I’m happy with the 5800x, especially for the price being almost 150 less than it’s bigger brother.

Perfect performance, in games and video editing.

Don’t do much gaming, but I wanted the core & thread capacity for desktop virtual machines so that I can have 2-3 VM’s with 4 processors assigned running quickly, while using the other cores for development and this has operated very nicely and smoothly for my needs!

Fantastic processor. Great upgrade from my aging i5. Superb shopping and shipping experience. Using it for 1440p gaming, programming and 3D modeling.

This replaces my Ryzen 7 1800X in a Gigabyte Aorus X470 Gaming with an RTX 2070 Super. Huge improvement in general responsiveness (my 1800X frequently lagged briefly here and there), and big increases in performance using Cinebench R23 (1800X: Single Core 1018 Multi 9309 5800X: Single 1694 Multi 15299) and with games (most either gained +20fps, much higher qualty settings, or both). I haven’t tweaked it, just running it under the same water-cooling rig I used for the 1800X. Great upgrade!

I built a new tower desktop with this CPU, ASUS TUF GAMING X570-PRO (WI-FI), 32 GB Corsair 3600 RAM, MSI GeForce RTX 2060 GAMING Z Graphics Card, 1TB Gen 4 Corsair M2, and Corsair H115i Pro XT cooler. All in a Corsair Airflow case. I didn’t get this CPU on November 5 so I ordered a 3700x 8 core and ran it with that for a couple weeks until B&H delivered my new Ryzen 7 5800X. It is both noticeably and testing faster. I couldn’t be happier. Overview Specifications Gallery Support Where to buy

So like the other reviewer here I have the same cooler the noctua c14s. This card does not actually have cooling problems but you have to do your research and due diligence. You will need to change the power plan in windows to the default Balanced preset, its what AMD recommends for the 5000 series or it will get slightly aggressive temperature spikes. You will also need to have a decent case with proper airflow and good fans. With those in check, mine is very tame idling at 26-33c and under full load doesn’t get over 71c during stress tests. Fastest processor I’ve ever owned and amazing performance coming from a 2600. I don’t see any reason to upgrade for a long time for myself and would highly recommend! Only downside is that it didn’t come with the free copy of Far Cry 6 like I was hoping but I’m trying to talk to customer service about it at time of writing.

Replaced 3700X with this 5800X I use a pushpull 120mm config AIO. 3700X ran at 75C under bench load, Score : 12,000 5800X rand at 87C under bench load, Score : 14,500 ~20.8% Bench score improvement

It’s awesome, I use it in my gaming rig which had a 2700x in it before, faster is the new fast. My x570 motherboard did require a BIOS update for it to post, prior to that it would hang on DRAM.

Before upgrading to this CPU, my i5-6600K was hitting near 100% while my 3070 stayed around 40%. Now my 3070 is near 100% and this CPU remains around 15-35%.
