The AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz Eight-Core AM4 Processor is a powerful eight-core processor with 16 threads, designed for socket AM4 motherboards. Built with Zen 2 architecture, the third-generation 7nm Ryzen processor offers increased performance compared to its predecessor. It has a base clock speed of 3.6 GHz and can reach a max boost clock speed of 4.4 GHz. Moreover, it features 32MB of L3 cache, 24 PCIe Gen 4 lanes, and support for dual-channel 3200 MHz DDR4 RAM. Users should pair it with an AMD X500-series motherboard to fully take advantage of PCIe 4.0. This processor has a 65W TDP (Thermal Design Power) and includes a Wraith Prism cooler with RGB LED lighting. Please note that it does not have an integrated GPU, so a dedicated graphics card is required.

Im a long time die hard Intel fan. And for many years, that was easy to do, since Intel was so far ahead of AMD in terms of performance. Not so anymore. I have a lot of PC gamer friends who made the switch to AMD, but I held out for a long time. Upgraded from an i5-8400 to an i5-9600k, hoping it would get rid of my lag, and give me more performance. Not the case. After making the switch to this processor, my days of lagging are gone. Even everyday performance is better. Unzipping files, multitasking, and photo editing all increased in performance.

Performance is solid as expected but since I’m using it in SFF case (Node 202) with Noctua NH-L9a, it runs hotter than I thought (50-80C) I’m swapping the CPU fan with thicker 25mm Noctua fan, should solve the thermal challenge.

Coming from an Intel i7-4770k, I was expecting a major improvement, but I am absolutely blown away at how capable this processor is. Not a single game I play can push this processor to its limit, and most can’t even reach 40%! I haven’t even bothered overclocking it, either. The Ryzen 7 3700X does run a bit hot with the stock cooler, but the processor can handle it no problem, so long as the case has adequate cooling. If thermals are any issue, water coolers are always available. Quick note: The stock cooler comes with thermal paste already applied.

The Ryzen 7 CPU is a fantastic core processor that does a satisfactory job computing whatever tasks you assign to it. The included cooling fan does it’s job well and includes thermal paste for that little extra cooling efficiency.

– New 7 nm process technology, finally fast cores like Intel, with 8 of them, and as many as 16. Now it makes no sense to make a clear division that they say Ryzen is only for work and play better on Intel. – In heavy tasks such as rendering, video editing, processing many photos in raw format, encoding 4K video in Hevc format – at least 2 times faster than my previous Intel i7 6700. Also ahead of i9 9700k, and in some places trying to catch up with i9 9900k, which in retail it is much more expensive. – It fits without problems on motherboards of previous generations with socket AM4, but it is recommended to pay attention to the quality of the processor power subsystem and update the BIOS before installing this processor, since it most likely will not start on old firmware.
