One day a USB C gen 3 connection failed causing a tethering program to crash as only gen 2 was available. I used this adapter to connect to a USB A gen 3 port to get the job done. It turned out that Microsoft (in their inimitable way) had replaced the manufacturers USB C driver with a generic driver during an update that caused the ASMedia 3142 to provide Gen 2 service only.

This one has plastic casing instead of the metal casing of the original version, but it fits together and looks and feels much better than the first version. They work just the same, but the newer plastic casing is a definite step up from the original

Works very well as advertised. Use full. Fixed my desk top speakers problem. Coupled with adv. Accessport Lite USB-C (2nd gen) Dac amplifier. Now I can use them with any USB port.

It just works. Unlike the other USB-C to USB-A adapters listed this one supports the USB-C higher speeds.

With tech companies constantly changing the portals having reliable adapters is a must. I found this one to be quite reliable.
