   I installed the product on my computer and it caused my system to hang. when I tried to reboot, the system drive was corrupted. I am just now finishing the recovery of my data. The unit is sitting on my desktop because I’m not sure what to do with it. I don’t want to try to hook it up again and have it cause another problem .

   I purchased the Back-UPS ES 550G as a replacement for a Back-UPS ES 500. I was very satisfied with the performance of APC products (both at home and at work). It always protected our equipment and was very easy to install. I would like to see replacement batteries at retail outlets for convenience.

   APS is the best – what else can you say? – their CS is good too – I had the one above this fail after about 10 years, but the cost for the replacement battery was more than this whole unit cost – I use it for my computers and have just enough power to shut them down if we lose power which is not very often. – for the price, you can’t beat it – it’s not as exciting as buying a new toy (camera, lens, etc) – but it’s good piece of mind, for that one day you have a deadline, and you get a storm and would have lost your work (perhaps)

   I am very happy with APC products, they do protect everything plugged into them. I use them for my TVs, Computers even my modem/router. I hate brownouts ! Now I am using one on my home automation system

   Product was easy to setup and was up and running in a few minutes. I am using it with my NAS which monitors the backup unit. Even with a PC and monitor connected, as well as the NAS, it has over 34 minutes of battery life. This is my 4th APC unit and all are still being used, the oldest one, over 5 years old, is being used for my audio equipment. Great products.

   Recently connected our XBOX & TV to this battery backup. We don’t get many power outages, but we did experience a few during Christmas break. It seems to have save a few XBOX games and, with that, many headaches for mom and dad.

   The first occasion for testing the battery backup in a real-life situation occurred yesterday. There was a passing thunderstorm that caused a brief power outage when I was working (coding) at home. My workstation remained stable during the power outage – no power outage, no loss of work, no damage to the computer/system.

    Have (5) units that cover not only computer application but aquarium pumps, satellite receivers and security camers. All work as designed and usually meet or exceed the warranty timeline as far as battery replacement. The exchange program will address to assure the latest product upgrades when this occurs.

    This is a perfect solution for a home computer. Big enough to handle the job yet priced to fit the budget. APC has always been the backup solution for all my computers. The trade up feature is perfect. Just put the old one in the box and drop it off for return. The easiest way to recycle.

    I use this product as a back-up power supply for my Mac Pro. I have been particularly happy with its performance in our somewhat unstable weather–I’d prefer not to lose 3 hours of rendering afterall!

    While the product is just an oversized, overweight extension cord, it has several things going for it: first, it can give me up to 40-odd minutes of run time on the battery; second, it will attempt to shutdown the computer at the end of those 40-minutes, and third, by consolidating all my devices onto one strip, I was able to remove 3 different power strips, hubs, and other parasitic electrical items. The thing will actually help me reduce my overall consumption. I’d buy it again but I don’t need a second one. I recommend it to anyone.

    As you may know, Florida has recently been hit with tropical storm Debby. Fearing damage for my computer and security equitment I purchased this battery backup. Throughout the storm the battery backup kicked in several times from sags, and short interuptions. I still made off well, not having a flood or a long power outage!
