The small footprint is wonderful for offices where space is a concern. Installation is simple and straightforward. It went from box to use in less than 5 minutes.

You absolutely can’t beat this product. My only request is that I wish this product line had an alarm defeat switch like the Back-UPS Pro. Next time around I will definitely spend the extra money to get one with the alarm defeat switch. Otherwise awesome product.

I am surprised at the increasing number of brown outs and power flickers we have been having so bought this to protect my PC from frequent re-booting and also any potential data loss. It seems to work well and kicks in and keeps the PC going when the lights and other electrical household items flicker off. Previously the PC would restart and complain it had not been shut down properly. Connected to a PC via USB it will automatically and safely put my PC into hibernate mode if the power is not restored before the battery back up runs down. The PC software gives an estimated run time on battery based on the power being drawn, but this is not at all accurate. The APC software shows a bizarre 450 minutes of back up power, although in practice it actually provides only 1 or 2 minutes of backup before initiating the hibernation sequence. I bought a higher rated unit hoping to get up to half an hour on battery power (Description claims up to 43 minutes) . In practice I only get a couple of minutes power – just enough to keep the PC on during power flickers or to go safely in to hibernate mode when power is off for an extended period. I’ve come to the conclusion that that is all that is really needed , so am pleased with the APC BE550G, just not so pleased with the misleading software estimates and real word battery run time. The only items attached to the powered sockets are a monitor and mid range desktop PC.

I bought this product for a very expensive piece of medical equipment that had shut down and wouldn’t boot back up. Once I plugged it in to this product and the power was regulated, the equipment booted back up within a few minutes. I highly recommend using this product for sensitive equipment!

These are some of the best UPS’s for your money. Super easy to install and use. We use them for our customers and internally for our essential workstations like our 24/7 service desk. We had a power surge just last month that knocked out power to half the building. The computers with this UPS were not affected by the surge and stayed powered without interruption as we needed them to. I highly recommend the Back-UPS 550. They’re more than affordable and can protect highly valued assets.

So far I like the ups I just today bought. easy setup (just plug it in), software installation was easy too. My critique is that the cord from the ups to the wall outlet is right beside the warning indicator light. well if you have the side with the cord facing the wall you can’t see the light. Turn it to the side with the light facing you (I am facing the ups with the cord coming out to my left) you can’t see the light because of the cord. If you put it on the floor next to the wall under your desk, you will never see the light, though I can see the cord un-obstructed. anyways, if you don’t care about the light at all, I basically agree with the most recent reviewers which I read.
