The Back-UPS 650 8 Outlet Surge Protector and Battery Backup (120V) from APC provides backup battery power and surge protection for your devices that require outlet power, such as your computer. This Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) features four surge-only protected outlets and four surge and battery-protected outlets with a total output power of 390W. At half-load, or 195W, the battery can last for up to 12 minutes; at full load, or 390W, it can last for 3.3 minutes. This UPS is compatible with devices that have an input voltage of 120V and a frequency of 50/60Hz, such as those found in the United States.
Beyond the more fundamental functions of this UPS, it also boasts more advanced features. If power conditions change while your devices are connected, this UPS will sound an alarm. If the utility power is out, you can rely upon the unit’s battery to turn on any devices connected to battery-protected outlets. The battery is hot-swappable and the UPS can be monitored via its built-in USB port. These features, among others, make this UPS a great way to ensure that any devices requiring steady, constant power are protected, such as servers, workstation computers, monitors, IP cameras, and more. It also delivers battery-powered AC. Fear the rain and lightning no more!

Great product. Works well especially when downloading footage off drives. I did not expect anything less from a product that B&H is selling.

It’s reasonably priced, and relatively easy to set up, but if what you’re attaching has a transformer as part of its power cable, like many routers and other devices, this particular UPS is laid out in a way you can’t really use all the outlets–unless you attach a power strip. If that’s not an issue, it works well.

Right size for my need. For years APC products were used in my office. I like the minor but thoughtful extras in the switches, etc. It’s very important to have when the computer and accessories are on almost 18 hours a day.

Towards the end of a long winter on the East Coast; I realized that the wimpy surge protector was not offering any thing of value against the brown-outs and blackouts. I used APC’s Trade-Up program; I surrendered an old 500VA (dead battery) unit, to obtain the “APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet 650VA.” I received the new UPS in only a couple of days. The installation of the UPS was simple and quick. Within a couple of days the UPS was tested by another black-out. This 650VA units worked perfectly to support; 50″ Plasma, Sony 7-channel A/V receiver, XBox-360, and a small network switch, for several minutes without an issue. I then choose to turn off the equipment when the power did not return. I highly recommend this product for any power solution; including the very expensive TV Room equipment.

Look good, perform great, these are just right for small offices looking for just a bit more juice. We love these and sell them to customers often. Highly recommended!

I recently replaced my failing APC 350U UPC with a newer APC 650 backup unit. So far I have not had any power outages so I can’t yet comment on power loss handling, but the unit was easy to set up and connect to my PC. It initially showed a run time of 123 minutes but after its first automatic self check the run time then displayed as 23 minutes which is more like I expected. If I encounter an adverse problems with this unit, I’ll be back to update my review.

already had a blackout and the battery backup took over seemingly.

We have several APC Back-UPS 650’s located through-out the office and prefer to purchase a new battery rather than buy an entire unit. The connectors have a snug fit and may need a little extra encouragement to get properly attached. The batteries have a long life, so you will not need to constantly replace the battery. Thanks to APC’s free return label, disposal is a breeze.

This is the second one of these I own. I use this one for cable modem and WIFI router, to protect the two devices and provide additional time, if the power goes out. I use the other for my computer and backup time machine.

The UPS seemed to require a full charge before the outlets became usable, but after that, it runs great. I get occasional brownouts in my neighborhood and this got me safely through potentially disastrous outages. Highly recommend

Have one at work and got one for home during lockdown and it doesn’t disappoint. Definitely would recommend

I moved to a city with tall trees everywhere, without good city planning, without cable underground. We used to have power outage at least few times a month, whether it’s storm, pouring rain, thunder, breeze, no wind,…. anytime, power outage always comes without warning. Finally I had to spend $600 to replace the motherboard of my desktop computer. I have used this for a couple weeks. Twice the power outage occurred (2 and 10 minutes respectively), and this backup battery functioned well.

I purchased this unit to replace an 8 year old CS350 unit that got fried in a thunderstorm. It had worked fine until then. The 350 saved my computer, accessories, and data just fine. I have had the 650 more than a month now and everything is good. I purchased the larger unit to allow for future expansion.

This is the perfect UPS for an entertainment center. With five battery plugs and two surge protected plugs, a small footprint, and a simple design, this APC Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) hits the sweet spot for an overlooked need. People forget or don’t recognize that their smart TV and DVR are computers. We already have APC UPSs for all of our computers, network equipment and servers, but those UPSs were too big for our rolling entertainment center. Larger UPSs are also overkill for what you need for entertainment equipment. In our case, wewe have a 55″ TV, DVR, Blu-Ray player, Sound Bar, and network switch. Our need is to provide power to these five devices for the 30 – 60 seconds until the standby generator kicks in. Without a standby generator, you still want a few minutes to do an orderly shut down, pause the program/DVD, turn off the equipment properly, etc. You also want to protect against power spikes and momentary drops. I would recommend this UPS for your entertainment equipment or network equipment.

This APC UPS-650 works as good as the one I have had for years. I use it for my computers & monitors. This one I am using for my awesome Sony TV. When the power goes out I still have a few minutes to watch something and turn off everything properly. It comes with a great insurance policy too.

It took me less then a minute to install this product and have it up and running fully. I have heard a lot of positive things about APC back-up UPS’s. It is certainly a product that more then pays for itself when your equipment is protected from damage byu a brown out or surge.
