The Back-UPS 650 8 Outlet Surge Protector and Battery Backup (120V) from APC provides backup battery power and surge protection for your devices that require outlet power, such as your computer. This Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) features four surge-only protected outlets and four surge and battery-protected outlets with a total output power of 390W. At half-load, or 195W, the battery can last for up to 12 minutes; at full load, or 390W, it can last for 3.3 minutes. This UPS is compatible with devices that have an input voltage of 120V and a frequency of 50/60Hz, such as those found in the United States.
Beyond the more fundamental functions of this UPS, it also boasts more advanced features. If power conditions change while your devices are connected, this UPS will sound an alarm. If the utility power is out, you can rely upon the unit’s battery to turn on any devices connected to battery-protected outlets. The battery is hot-swappable and the UPS can be monitored via its built-in USB port. These features, among others, make this UPS a great way to ensure that any devices requiring steady, constant power are protected, such as servers, workstation computers, monitors, IP cameras, and more. It also delivers battery-powered AC. Fear the rain and lightning no more!

I have been using APC Back-UPS for years and have all of my work stations and server on them. Mine recently died so I had to get a new one. I particularly like this one due to the smaller form factor compared to the old one.

Let’s face it. Everyone should have their computers attached to a UPS. Agreed? Ok, it that’s the case why wouldn’t you use an APC Back-UPS ES 8 Outlet UPS? Everyone has lots of things that need to be plugged in and protected, either by surge protection or battery backup. 8 outlets are better than 6! The really nice thing about the APC products, other than their quality, is that when one dies, and they all die eventually, you can order a new one. The price is discounted because you are going to send your old one back to them. This eliminates these things ending up in the landfill somewhere. Great all around. New, more power UPS and they take the old one away. You don’t even pay for shipping for the return. I won’t go anywhere else for my UPS’s.

I am unable to get the Software to notice the UPS that is connected via the USB connection. I know that that USB port is good since I had my printer connected to it before. I even tried rebooting, no difference. I have had APC UPS before and will continue, I just hate when we run into these bumps in the road..

Bought this for an UNRAID storage server so that it wouldn’t get corrupted if the power went out. This works very well with the server and sometimes I forget that it even exists. The power went out once and the server handled itself fine. Also just want to note the fact that it is a small form factor it’s also pretty cool.

Got this to replace a battery backup that seemed a little wonky when we recently lost power. This one, while obviously new, looks sleek compared to the one we had and has many more ports. Haven’t lost power yet since setting up but i’m feeling good about it so far. We use this on our video editing setup; imac, two monitors, two drobos, and peripherals.

This unit replaces a BR800 that failed after only six or seven years *(the unit, not just the batteries). This one has better features such as the wider spaced plugs, but it was almost impossible to get the battery far enough out of the case to connect the positive lead (the negative lead was pre-connected). Someone with lesser mechanical skills could not have done it, and I’m not sure what I will do if/when I have to change the battery.

I was disappointed that this UPS had no software support for an iMac. The unit works great but I was use to the software telling me if I had a problem when I had a PC. Shipping was very slow also, that needs improvement.

Great battery backup for my home office. The transition is perfect when power goes out or the generator runs a test.
