I bought this to be an emergency backup for a power dual reclining sofa. We have more than our fair share of power outages. I’m not as young as I used to be, and if the outage happens while I’m in the recliner, I’m stuck. They make battery power packs for recliners that are away from outlets, but they’re pretty big bucks. B&H had this one on sale, so I thought I’d give it a try. Bingo! Works perfect! I cycled the chair about 10 times with zero problems. I only need it to work once in case I get trapped. Solved the problem, and saved some $$.

Not much to say, nicely built unit that appears to work as expected. Have not had a power failure so no “real world” test yet

This was the perfect backup and surge suppression for my cable modem.

Have connected to desktop and monitor to handle short interruptions in power. Unfortunately it does not seem to connect to computer like old one did, to automatically shut it down if on battery power. I will probably move this to modem, router, switch later

Two power outages thus far and worked as advertised.

I bought 3 of these on a daily special at B&H. They arrived quick & work perfectly. My only complaint is that they don’t have a USB port to shut down your PC during an extended power outage (using the APC Powerchute Personal software).

The battery would not charge. With AC power the unit would shut off after 2 hours. I called APC technical support. They were very responsive. After discussing the problem they agreed to ship a new unit and send a shipping label to return the defective one.

The unit was received in very shoddy packaging form B-H. Disgusting how poorly they packaged the back power supply I bought. The APC Back-UPS BN450M is fantastic. Allows two items to plug-in and protect. East hookup. I waited a couple days for the battery to fully charge, then unplugged it from the wall. The two components kept working, and soon the green power light began flashing notifying me that the unit was powering my equipment. Works 100% correct, nice price and small space requirement. I’m very pleased.

The battery has died after less than 2 years. Doesn’t look like APC/Schneider is using own battery brand. I don’t recommend this product.

Have deployed many of these in audio/visual environments. Salad for the price but could be more competitive pricewise.

I need secure power for two separate systems; mostly to save them the agony of power repeatedly going out and coming back on; for example – Texas storms. One’s my desktop Mac system, which has some external SSD drives. It doesn’t need much power, and I’d been using an Amazon Basics 400VA box. Which is what I was using also to power the other system, which is a Dish satellite TV recorder and some low-power stuff that needs wifi to communicate with the gate, which can be monitored and remote controlled from an iPhone app. The Amazon Basics UPS was small, low-cost and of adequate capacity and seemed to work well, but during a prolonged absence I discovered in wouldn’t power back on again if it shut down during a blackout. Well, it would – but you had to be there to press the power on button; it wouldn’t turn back on by itself despite the mains being back. Not a problem for the Mac, but a serious issue for the Dish recorder and the gate controller. So therefore this similar power APC product. Installed in both places. Better arranged outlets (especially these days, with wall warts a-plenty), almost as cheap, slightly more VA capacity. And it turns on when the mains supply comes back.

Exact size needed for single items to prevent reboots during short power outages. The larger ones are ok for your main entertainment systems. Bigger is not always better.
