The Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500 International Version (230V) from APC provides power to your important computer components in the event of an electrical outage. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) contains a battery which continues to power computers, monitors and other components if the electricity is cut from them. An LCD status display provides information including remaining battery life, load capacity, and event notices. The battery is hot-swappable and easy to replace. An audible alarm alerts you of events like power outage and low battery.

Was easy to set up. I do not know what software features you may be missing on a Mac. It comes with a CD for windows but that may be because Windows needs 6 cds just to boot up. On the Mac you plug in the USB and there are some options for setting times and it shows the battery level. The unit seems well made. I had some questions before buying and the APC support was very prompt via email. What I would have liked to have found among the hundreds of reviews was a consumer saying they had a power problem and this thing saved his rear. Like many things you may never need it. I just wanted protection for the new iMac after a power outage during use caused one of my older macs to go haywire for a few days. It since seemed to have fixed itself.

I bought this to replace an older BR1500, and use it in conjunction with a BR750 and several different APC PDUs and surge protectors. I’ve always been happy with APC products, and don’t have any issues related to noise that others are reporting, even during the initial setup. My one complaint is that they did change the layout of the outlets and it doesn’t allow multiple transformer blocks to be plugged into the battery protected outlets without blocking everything else. I moved stuff into another UPS, but you can get around this with a Y cable, PDU or power strip. Even with a 12 bay tower filled with drives I’m hovering in the 1/3 capacity range which still gives me around 15 minutes run-time.

We have used this product for almost a year now in an area that sees many brownouts and blackouts, and it has worked flawlessly. The monitoring software is ok, but not really particularly helpful.

Because of frequent power outage where I live, I researched various back up power systems. APC UPS had all the features I was looking for. I now have a backup power supply for my critical equipment (VOIP modem and my phone). The APC UPS will shut down all the non-essentials. The manuals are a little sparse on info but the tech support was immediately available and helpful. The set up was easy. I read several reviews that had comments regarding the fan noise. Absolutely no noise!
