Used for a home theater. Be aware that this unit does not produce a pure sine wave output but it works for most equipment. Also, if it is too close to a speaker you may hear some hum.
Stacey Schaefer (verified owner) –
Very easy to install the battery and SO intuitive to operate that the instructions are not needed.
Leo Medhurst (verified owner) –
Great battery backup at a reasonable price. Helpful monitoring software.
Henriette Kessler (verified owner) –
Enough power to give me plenty of time to shut down, and can handle peak demand from my computer and monitors while on battery. Love the auto shut off for my accesories when my computer shuts down or sleeps. Appears well made. Fan is quiet when battery is engaged. What I expected from APC. Always love doing business with B&H.

I have my computer with 400w supply, two external hdds, 24 LCD monitor, and a large (17 carriage) Epson 3880 inkjet printer plugged into the backed up outlets. As a test, I pulled the UPS plug from the wall with everything on and working and nothing skipped a beat! Happy. The backup display said I had 50+ minutes of operation. Always found those to be optimistic, but if I get only half that, I’ll still be able to finish a 16 x 24 high res print and shut down safely. I’ve a laser printer and low-power sound system plugged into surge-protection only outlets. These, and my monitor are plugged into so-called power-saving outlets. They power down when the computer is off or in sleep mode. That may save me about 12-watts of idle power when the puter is off. Not a big deal to me personally, but good for the world (which is a big deal to me) so why not. Had a moment of buyers remorse when I read that these Back-UPS Pro models have simulated sine-wave output which can cause problems with some newer power supplies. My 3-year old HP has no problems with it, same as my Epson printer. On a performance to date basis, this is a 5-star player. I rated it only 4-stars because I remain a little concerned about the funny output wave-shape playing nicely with future equipment. Also, I’d feel better if the surge-protection rating was greater than a puny 320 joules. Those are my reasons for deleting one star. CODITIONAL RECOMMENDATION: This is an economical (for its power) and perfectly-performing, well-featured back-up system for me. But, based on a little bit of (unverified) web-research, I suggest you confirm compatibility with your late-model computer before purchase.

Easy to setup. I have a desktop and laptop along with 3 monitors and I have very little load.

This item is used two fold for me. One as a battery backup in case of power outages, and two as a power leveling. The place where I live has very bad power to the point where if I use my studio strobes and have my pc on, my pc will eventually trip off after a few cycles as the power is not consistent. This unit has been able to correct that issue for me.

I had the older version of this product (BR1500) which finally gave out on me after about 4-5 years of use. I was still able to use the external extended battery pack from the old unit with this one, which was a definite plus. The addition of the LCD to this model is another great feature. I can see in real time how many Watts my battery backed-up devices are consuming. Note: The fan in this unit runs during trickle charging of the battery. This occurs any time the unit switches to battery, even through a self-test. The fan will kick on and run for about 3 hours. It is fairly noisy, but it will shut off and remain off until the next power interruption.

Good smaller UPS. Has plenty of outlets in a small package. Great price and fast shipping from B&H

can’t really try this yet cos you need to get IDE extension cords, PLEASE NOTE! Look at the back of the machine, it doesn’t let you plug in any power cables as the North american version does!

I’ve used APC products for decades, and most of that time no problems. Recently my larger 1500 ran out of life internally and could not be fixed as it’s life expectancy had finally run it’s course. I worked with APC Support and was considering their upgrade program but after checking my B&H account it was apparent and clear, B&H could deliver next day, in my timeline and at a better price point. My decision was also biased as I’ve always been 100% satisfied with any purchases with B & H.

This is the second APC Back-UPS Pro I own. I needed another as the first one was tapped out of sockets. The first one has worked flawlessly for years and I expect the same from this new one. I did upgrade to 10 sockets (1500 version) from the older one which only had 8 (1000 version). The UPS protect my laptop and Desktop and all the peripherals attached.

Beautiful little compact way to have a lens of greater focal length. As I am a backpacker I am limited in what I can carry, both volume and weight. This is the perfect solution for me. And with thei conversion, 1.4, there is very little loss in sharp focus. To be used with my 80-400 lens, a razor sharp affair, even tho I was warned that it would not be. Beautiful marriage of components.

I’ve owned several of these and have had to contact APC on almost a yearly basis because of them reporting failure despite the battery still holding a charge and the units will pass a manual self test even right after supposedly failing. The product reviews on their website say the same thing and other than continuing to replace the item within the original 3 year purchase period, all the overseas support can suggest is upgrading to the SMC series and offering a trade-in at a price that is higher than the B&H retail. Avoid the BR series products at any cost, switch to the BE series or find another brand.

Having lost a media drive to a power cut while it was writing to the disk I didn’t want to risk any loss of work again. I bought this, still skeptical that it would pick up the power supply seamlessly and therefore save the drive and my work. However, within a day of hooking it up there was a 1 minute outage and sure enough, it faultlessly and quietly whirred into life. I have no idea how long it will run my editing rig for, but it would be stupid not to immediately back up and shut down safely anyway,
