Description
The Power-Saving Back-UPS Pro 1500 International Version (230V) from APC provides power to your important computer components in the event of an electrical outage. The Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) contains a battery which continues to power computers, monitors and other components if the electricity is cut from them. An LCD status display provides information including remaining battery life, load capacity, and event notices. The battery is hot-swappable and easy to replace. An audible alarm alerts you of events like power outage and low battery.

This is my third APC back-up and it is a very solid product like the others. However the on/off switch on this model does not work properly. I called APC and they very quickly sent out a new replacement. The replacement also had a bad power switch. So they are sending me a third unit…we’ll see. APC support is top notch and shipping is fast. I don’t have much hope that the third unit uses a different switch. Based upon my experience with two faulty units I have to give a Do Not Recommend until they fix the switch issue. Other than that it is top quality as I have come to expect from APC.

Only CPU, monitor, telephone and external HD plugged into battery backup. Very low load so plenty of time to save files and shut down system nomally. Larger plugs for power adapters (phone, ext. HD) barely, but do fit. Short power interuptions are not noticed now. Haven’t had a complete power outage, yet so can’t say how unit will react.

I replaced my 3 older UPSs with these from APC. We don’t loose power often but it can be days when we do. My old units did not like the simulated sine wave output of my generator and were constantly switching between line (generator) and battery when the utility power was lost. These units are adjustable to be more tolerant of generators. Now I’m waiting to see. Price was great, setup was straight forward. Generator tolerant?? TBD
