The 6-Outlet Essential SurgeArrest from APC helps prevent damage to your equipment that can result from electric power surges and spikes. It features six NEMA 5-15R outlets that draw power via its NEMA 5-15P plug with a nominal input voltage of 120 VAC @ 50/60 Hz. It can tolerate a maximum input and line current of 15A, as well as a maximum input power of 1200W and a surge energy rating of 1080 joules.

This is a far better solution than stringing several surge protectors in a line. A couple of our buildings don’t have outlets every three feet; we needed the reach between outlets to plug everything in. This surge protector keeps our equipment protected without having to drag an extension cord first or having to link several surge protectors.

It seemed a little light weight with a really stiff cord but it protected all three of the devices I was charging during all of the power surges. The slots are a bit close together but I had enough room to put in three chargers.

I use surge protectors with musical equipment, and previously I’ve had to get one with a short cord and use an extension cord. This APC 610 is going to be my new go-to unit. It’s got the standard inline receptacles, a conveniently located switch, and a light that shows the surge protection is intact and working. Best of all is the generous ten-foot cord, just what I needed. You can’t always get decent Joule ratings in these, but the 610 handles up to 1080 Joules, better than average for a plain and simple unit. I’ve never had to exercise the insurance that comes with these, but the limit of $50,000 in connected equipment seems extremely beneficial. I haven’t opened the unit, but I envision the typical high quality surge protection components that would be inside, the hallmark of APC.

Use these on every PC in our small office (6 PCs). There was building electrical maintenance and one PC was burned out unrepairable due to the outage and subsequent surge during reconnection. All other PCs and server equipment were protected. Will be making a claim for the burnt PC.
