Great overall design. It has a sturdy plastic casing and a single 3 prong plug on the back. Once it’s inserted into a wall outlet and secured with the center screw, it is quite stable as well. Six outlets with grounds and two USB ports…way more than I would expect from this type of product. The product dimensions are roughly 5.25″ H x 4.75″ L x 1.25″ D. The geen light on top is a great feature that will always let you know when you’re protected. Other than that, the plugs are nice and tight and the USB chargers work perfectly.

I removed the face plate from the outlet and plugged the unit into the socket. After tightening the screw, I noticed a 3/16″ gap all around the edges of the product between the plastic and the wall. This will allow drafts and insects to enter my room, in addition to being unsightly. The product should probably have a flange around the edges on the back so that it will fit snugly against the wall without the user being required to remove and reinstall the electrical outlet – especially if an electrician must be called. It does, however, serve the purpose for which it was acquired. I can plug in all of the devices I needed to, even though one of them is quite large and covers several outlets.

I just received this item and I haven’t had a chance to use it but I know exactly where it is going to go and I am really exited to get it installed. I have always enjoyed using APC products and I look forward to using other new items.

This is an excellent product. I adds the number of outlets you have available for devices, PLUS you have the USB ports handy to recharge your phone, etc. I have found this to be a very valuable item to have and highly recommend it!

This surge arrest wall outlet is very well made. It installs easily and lies flat to the wall – very sturdy. Having the USB charger ports is excellent. I like the green light to let you know it is protecting your items. We have a lot of power blips and this is just the thing we needed.

I installed the unit and really liked its form factor, especially the 2 5v charging ports. Then about three days after installation, we had a series of short power outages, likely caused by high winds. From experience, these types of outages often result in power spikes. All the equipment attached o the unit came through without incident, so it seemed to lwork really well and protect the connected equipment.

All technical specifications and performance aside, this is not a unit I would recommend for the bedroom. The green “Protected” indicator light has a significant glow in a dark bedroom … almost acting as a unwanted night-light. I ended up moving it out of the bedroom.

I’ve always trusted APC to provide much better than average power conditioning. With the addition of this product line, APC is becoming competitive with a lot of other brands for wall mount surge suppressors and charging devices. The three big features of the Essential SurgeArrest 6 are the six outlets with 540 joules (a medium level) of surge suppression with equipment coverage included, the two 5v/2.4a USB charging ports, and the indicator light that shows circuit protection is engaged and intact. It mounts securely to the receptacle and becomes like a little power hub in its part of the room. We had family visiting recently, and I noticed three charging cords (2 USB and one in a power outlet) emanating from this unit. These are sure to be big sellers.
