The Smart-UPS SC 450VA 1U Rackmount/Tower (120V) from APC is a professional uninterruptible power supply designed to prevent blackouts, brownouts, sags, and surges from reaching your valuable equipment. It filters small utility line fluctuations and isolates your equipment from danger by internally disconnecting it from the utility line. When disconnected from the utility line, power is provided continuously from its internal battery until normal or safe conditions return or the battery is fully discharged. The unit also supplies battery-powered AC.
The UPS can be used in a tower or rackmount configuration. Front-access servicing also makes it easier to manage. This unit also offers RS-232 connectivity. It includes a $150,000 equipment-protection policy.

Pros: This unit is exactly what I needed. I had a Active PFC power supply, so wanted to make sure to have a pure sine way UPS. This unit runs my server (Quad core Xeon 3400 series, eight drives, lots of fans), router, two switches, wap and still runs for around 15minutes.

For extremely small rack deployments, this is about the most minimal UPS you can get. But its short depth is a definite advantage in many situations. Sometimes a small, dedicated UPS is all you need for a compact installation.

I have two of these, one works, the other turns itself off and requires you to unplug from the wall before you can turn it back on. If that’s how you want your UPS to work, then these will work for you! and, forget about support helping, totally useless. (Jonathan Neil)

I wish it had voltage meters on the front and an extra outlet on the front like my Furman units. I have my firewall, modem and 2 switches hooked up to it and it buzzes every time I power up my Mac Pro, so either it’s sensitive or I have other power issues in the room.
