I installed my system a few weeks ago. All fittings were good, no leaks, everything was included, etc. I’m very pleased with not only the quality of the system but the quality of my water. I have a well with semi low pressure, some hardness and sulfur odor. I got the system with the permeate pump and all the extras. I didn’t want to fool around with getting almost good water. Very happy!

I have well water and a salt based water softener system. The water wasn’t horrible, but I wanted cleaner and safer drinking water for my family. I researched different systems for a couple weeks. Every time I reviewed what I had found the APEC systems were always the best when you considered the quality of the system components, the ease of installation, and the potential for simple future maintenance and repair. I went with the RO-PERM system, upgraded to the 14 gallon tank, added 2 ice maker kits (one to connect my ice maker, one for my instant hot), ordered extra water line for connecting all three outlets, and upgraded the faucet to a model that matched my kitchen. The system is installed on a board attached to the a beam in my basement and each of the outlets (ice maker, instant hot & faucet) range from 15 to 20 feet from that location. Water pressure at each source is fantastic, especially at the faucet which is the farthest away!I’m considering adding a faucet in the upstairs bathroom for the kids to use because I’m so confident it would have enough pressure to operate even after going 20 feet UP to that location. With the 14 gallon storage tank I never run out of water, even when I use it for the water I home brew beer with on the weekends. I can’t be sure that the water made all the difference, but I think that my last batch was the best beer I’ve ever made, and water is truly the main component of any beverage! Having clean ice and water is something that I enjoy so much, and our whole family is so happy to have our RO system installed. Thanks for making such great systems! INSTALLATION TIP: The nail based or adhesive Clips for coaxial/TV cable that you can buy at a hardware store work great for holding the water lines in place.

I bought this RO-PERM system a month ago and it has performed excellent! Since we are on well water I ordered the system with the permeate pump since my well water pressure is 30-50 psi. The pump is hydraulic and no electrical power is needed. It makes a somewhat slow soft sounding click every couple of seconds until the tank has reached its fill point for the system pressure. A gentle reminder that the system is diligently replenishing the reserve RO water to the tank. I love these push on tubing fittings! They are so quick and easy to use. Just be sure you push the tubing all the way in past the ”O” ring and pull back to lock the connection. I also found that if you keep the black drain line away from other lines or objects in the area it will run quieter since the line twitches from the surge of drain water when the pump pulses. Added the 14 gallon tank and 3/8” outflow tubing for better volume flow, which I highly recommend.

I had researched RO units for a while before I decided on this unit. I was glad to see somethings are still manufactured in the good ol’ USA. I just wish it was available in the brick and mortar store instead of just on line. I purchased the unit with the extra water powered pump because being on a well pump the water pressure is not as high as most city water systems. I installed it myself in the basement since I new the pump would make some noise. Although, all you here is a clicking noise as it turns on and off while making RO water. I purchased 50′ of extra tubing and a push together T. This allowed me to tie into the new sink faucet and the ice maker. The hardest part of the installation was working around all of the existing plumbing, disposal, and wiring under the sink to install the single faucet. My sink already had an extra hole for this faucet, but it is larger than what you would drill so there was some issues with getting it centered in the hole while trying to tighten it. You will need someone on the top side of the sink to hold it in place during this operation. I was really surprised to find out my coffee, prior to using RO waster, had been so bitter. What a difference the unit makes in the taste. At my age of 64, I now have high blood pressure and I bought the unit to eliminate any salt residue from our water softener. I could see this in the ice maker/water dispenser tray from the frig. I no longer have this issue and I am sure my ice maker will last longer also. Hopefully, I will too! Great Unit so far.

So honestly the only reason I got this is because I got tired of going outside and getting pre-treatedwell water for my plants. I killed a few after I got a softener because I was unaware. And I just love how fast this was to set up. The pump did fail but was addressed extremely fast. When I move out I will definitely be coming back for the whole system

Wish I would have changed my RO system to this one a long time ago. The APEC RO-PERM way outperforms my previous WHER25 system from Whirlpool. However, the permeate pump is a little loud with its clicking noise. That is my only criticism. Works well with my 45-50 PSI cold water supply pressure.

I spent a while researching these RO systems as we drink a lot of water in my house. I live on city water but I don’t have a lot of faith in our water company here in WV. I really liked the idea of an all in one system which some competitors sell. However, I chose to go with APEC. What it came down to for me was that this was a higher end system that is made in USA, the customer service was great when I had questions, and the reviews were all very positive on various websites. The system is high quality construction. The filter housing was a bit bigger than I expected. Despite that, i was able to get it and the tank under my normal sized cabinet under the sink. Installation was overall fairly straight forward. Instructions are clear and easy to follow. It took me a bit longer because I decided to hook it up to our ice machine. So, I had to drill through the back of 3 cabinets to run extra ice water tubing (bought at Home Depot in refrigerator appliance section) about 15 feet and bought a t-connector. Thus, I am feeding both the water faucet that we installed into the sink and the refrigerator. I thought I’d use more water out of the fridge, since that is where I used get our water from. But honestly, the fridge doesn’t make the water that much colder and the water fills from the APEC faucet much faster. So I’ll probably only use the fridge hook up for the ice maker to make sure I’ve got better quality ice for the summer months. I’m happy to be able to fill up water quickly from the faucet, saving me time.Be sure to put plenty of teflon on the connector to the water pump as we had a little leak and I ended up having to redo that part the next day. Ordered off Home Depot website and took about a week to arrive. Water tastes great. It tastes very ‘empty’ – like you can tell there isn’t much in it. My old filtered water always felt ‘heavy’ to me. Granted, we have hard water but I have a water softener in line. I do not have a TDS meter so can’t report on how much it is filtering out. Wife is very pleased. She thanked me for doing this. I do wish I had gotten the chrome water faucet. But the one it came with is nice. It just doesn’t match my sink. I bought a water pressure tester and it said my water pressure was 45 so I decided to go with the perm pump. I also heard that one of these devices helps reduce water waste from a competing company, however when I talked to APEC they didn’t really make that claim. So, not sure how true that is or not. At any rate, it is fair to say the pump makes an annoying ‘click’ noise when the tubing clicks back and forth. I tried to insulate it a bit. Although I was able to muffle the annoying sound a bit, unfortunately the way I installed the entire unit, the end of the pump that clicks points outward toward the cabinet door (i.e., toward the room). So the sound is still a bit annoying. However, it isn’t too bad. Over the last few days, I’v gotten more used to it. I wish APEC sold some kind of insulating device for this because their instructions offer a vague recommendation to try and insulate it to muffle the sound. For that reason, I gave the system a 4 rather than a 5. Several others noted that you can install this in the basement and run the lines up, which is what I’d recommend if you buy the pump. Unfortunately, in my home configuration that was not possible. In sum, very happy with my purchase. Am hoping it will last a long time! Great peace of mind! Just wish there was a way to quiet the pump sound.

I have had my system installed long enough to need to change the RO filter for the first time, and continue to be very pleased with the quality of the water. I installed my system in the basement and split the output to feed both my kitchen sink, and my ice maker. It makes marvelous ice cubes that are crystal clear. It also makes it very easy to access when changing filters. You will enjoy this system once you put it in.

I purchased this RO system in particular due to the non electric pump. I am on a well and have fairly low water pressure. I worked with the APEC company directly to decide on which version of the system and they were incredibly helpful with all my questions. One negative to the pump though is that it makes a clicking sound when filling the tank. You get used to it quickly and it doesn’t take long to refill the tank anyway. The water pressure is amazing. I upgraded the output filter and lines to 3/8in tubes (bought directly from APEC). I also installed a ph filter after this unit since I have low ph water. This system also provides ice cubes to my fridge so the increased water pressure was important. Overall I am extremely satisfied with this product.

This system was a replacement for a 15-year-old unit, now installed for a few weeks. Rapid delivery, easy installation, very nice faucet, works exactly as promised. The Permeate pump is noisy, not ideal for in-house under-counter installation, but customer service was very responsive about replacing the stock item with a lower capacity, still quite adequate, and much quieter pump.
