I purchased this unit to replaced an existing GE RO model GXWH40L which I had for about two years before I started having issues. The problem with the GE unit was that there was a component inside the faucet assembly which was leaking and caused some minor water damage to my cabinet base. It took a while to find the leak since it was intermittent and I thought it was leaking from other connections which I had to eliminate one at a time. I called the tech and parts support phone number included with the GE literature and was a little dismayed to find out it was a 3rd party and I could not deal with GE directly. They quoted me a replacement faucet assembly for around $90. One design flaw I foresaw with this component was that the waste water discharge was channeled through the faucet assembly which is where the leak originated. I was not too impressed with GE and their lack of support and didn’t want to put good money over bad by purchasing a replacement part only to have the same issue later on so I decided to look at replacement units.I found the APEC line of ROs on the Home Depot website but there was none in stock at the local store. I read the reviews which were all pretty much positive after you filtered out the home owners self inflicted problems. I called APEC directly to inquire about their after sales support and was delighted to find out that I could deal with them directly and that they were made in the USA. The sales associate even helped my pick out the appropriate unit for my application. Since I am on a well she recommended the RO-PERM which has a built in pump to assist in the removal of waste and keep a continuous pressure in the system. Installation went quick since I already had pressure and drain connections. All the lines on the APEC were 1/4″ plastic hose which was the same as the GE with the exception of the drain which was 3/8″. That problem was solved by a 1/4″ to 3/8″ adapter. I also opted to install in the basement under the sink cabinet to reduce clutter and make changing the filters easier and less messy. Placing the RO and tank in the basement also had the added benefit of quiet operation since the pump makes a slight clicking noise when expelling waste water. After I verified the unit was working and producing good water I connected the output to my Samsung fridge as well using a 1/4 push on T fitting which also had the added bonus of eliminating the $50 Samsung water filters. The old GE unit was a 3 stage RO which seemed to work alright as far as water quality is concerned but I noticed when changing the carbon filters that the first stage was absolutely disgusting in spite of the fact that I have a whole house sediment and carbon filter plus a water softener. The APEC unit is a 5 stage unit and has a first stage sediment filter in order to keep the carbon filter from prematurely getting clogged up. The filters are standard and you can purchase at any home/building supply store.So far I am happy with the performance of the unit and quality of the drinking water and of course the good support (so far) from the APEC associates.

It was very easy to install, just read the instruction manual and follow the step while you install this system. It’s good to know where each hose will be located first so you can have an idea where to put the parts and tanks before actually installing the system. The system works great and the pressure is fantastic.It is very efficient at removing TDS.(From 343 to 12 PPM)

I did a lot of research before buying this. I love it. It is a great product and both the U.S.quality of the build and ease of installation with no leaks was a pleasant surprise. Follow the instruction in sequence can help you to install the system easily. I installed this system in the basement. The company sent extra tubing for the tank and waste water at no charge. The permeate pump does make some noise but only after you use water. It is well worth it since it increased efficiency.As for the water, the water has the best taste. Our TDS meter shows that our kitchen sink went from 669 ppm to 51 ppm. Now the water tastes incredibly fresh and pure.I am very happy with my purchase and I highly recommend it.

The replacement UV light arrived promptly. It is now installed and leak free. The original defective UV light will be dropped off at UPS today to be returned. As a note, after less than 1 week with your Permeate Ultra Reverse Osmosis in use (Without the UV Light) I can honestly say that the water taste quality is 100% better. In the past, I would typically avoid drinking our well water here while preferring bottled water, and the salt from our home water softener ruined any chance of a decent glass of iced tea. Your RO system has made my water a pleasure to drink & my iced tea taste what I was hoping for. No more bottled water here! I installed the RO system last Saturday. I can’t believe how much better the water is now! I always thought city was good, but now I have “bottled water” quality drinking water. This summer when the City of Toledo’s drinking water goes bad from microcystines, my family will be safe. The ice cubes are crystal clear (so is the water) and the permeate pump gives me more pressure at the ice maker than I had using City water. My wife commented on how nice the brushed nickel faucet looks at the sink and how it matches the normal spout. All the parts needed for installation were included-I didn’t have to make any trips to the local big box store. Thanks-and I will be recommending APEC to my friends.

This is a wonderful product, I was about to buy the Home Master RO system but then was stopped by a reputable plumber. He told me he installed the Home Master in the past and the quality is trash. He recommended the APEC system because it was made with care and in high quality material, i.e. Made in USA and not from China. After the installation by my plumber, it runs smoothly and the pump really fills up the tank quickly despite the fact of me living in a 3 story townhome and the sink is on the second floor. Water tastes AMAZING. No more frequent trips to the horrible water place down the street when now I have my own system in my kitchen. I highly recommend this product along with the:- Ultimate 10 in. Calcium Carbonate Alkaline Filter Kit with 3/8 – 3/8 in. Output Quicker Dispense Upgrade Kit – Ice Maker Kit for Upgraded 3/8 in. output reverse osmosis. I bought all of above to make sure I get the maximum flow out of the spout from the included faucet of the RO system as well as a quicker flow to the fridge when dispensing water and or ice. I also live in California so its a no brainer to buy this RO system that is also being made in my home state.

The main reason for 4 stars is the pump has a minor leak. The water taste is great. Better than the spring water that I used to drink. Like most of the components are made in the USA which including the pump. A little disappointed after found out the leaks. Called Monday and got the new pump within 3 days. Great customer service. Replaced the pump in no time and work great. Would be 5 stars if no pump issue. Get the quick fill upgrade with 3/8 inch tubing to fill water just like regular faucet.
