This unit provides delicious tasting water, but the RO process wastes a lot of water. We installed the unit but left the drain tube unattached to the waste water pipe to measure the waste output. Even with our excellent water pressure, we measured more than a 1:6 ratio (Apec says 1:3 is typical), meaning for every 1 cup of filtered water, there was more than 6 cups of waste. As a homeowner who pays both a water and sewer bill, I fear those bills will skyrocket.

I just purchased this unit and it is working beautifully. I was looking for a unit with a small footprint and this one is just right. Install was done by plumber and it took him about 2 hours. Had to disconnect the air gap and run it direct to the disposal but other than that there were no problems

This is the first time I purchased a PO filter, and needed one to fit under a small cabinet.Here’s the main points:1. I was confused at all the different models, but APEC’s customer support was very helpful finding me a small unit. Their support was excellent both before and after the sale. Special thanks to Ken and Ydira – you are awesome! 2. Installation took me about 2.5 hours from start to finish, but I’m familiar with plumbing. If you’re not plumbing oriented, it may take a bit longer. The only tip I would recommend is when installing, is keep the original length of tubing supplied with the unit – don’t cut them to fit. This way, if you have to temporarily move the unit outside of the cabinet, you have enough hose to do it without having to disconnect everything. (See photo).3. The quality of the water output is excellent. Our tap water is pretty bad, but the output was just like distilled. The flow rate was pretty good too; I can fill a gallon jug in about 1.5 minutes. The quality of the components (fittings, connections, filters, etc) looks high quality.I would highly recommend this unit to others looking for a smaller unit.Very high quality of water, and amazing customer support.
