The Apple 13″ MacBook Air features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). Tackle your projects with the fast 8-Core CPU and take on graphics-intensive apps and games with the 7-core GPU. Accelerate machine learning tasks with the 16-core Neural Engine. Complete with a silent, fanless design and up to 18 hours of battery life, the MacBook Air is still portable, but now a lot more powerful. It also has 8GB of unified RAM and a 256GB SSD.
With over 4 million pixels, the 13.3″ Retina Display features a 2560 x 1600 screen resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio for 227 pixels per inch (ppi). The display also features up to 48 percent more color than the previous generation. With True Tone technology, the white balance automatically adjusts to match the color temperature of the light around you for a more natural viewing experience.
Connect to the internet via Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and use compatible wireless peripherals and accessories with Bluetooth 5.0. The two Thunderbolt 3 ports provide USB4 support and can even connect to the Apple Pro Display XDR in full 6K resolution. Apple also included studio-quality mics for clear recordings and calls. There is also Apple’s latest camera ISP in the M1 chip, which enables sharper images and more details in shadows and highlights in video calls. Keep your MacBook Air secure with Secure Enclave in M1 as well as Touch ID. The Touch Bar allows for shortcuts, the backlit Magic Keyboard provides a comfortable typing experience, and the Force Touch trackpad allows for precise cursor control, pressure-sensing capabilities, and Multi-Touch gestures.
Please note that this MacBook Air can only output to a single external display with up to 6K resolution at 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

So easy to use, covers all my needs. Light enough to take anywhere but still substantial.

I was going to wait for the refresh of the MBP 16 line and the M1 processor, but as fate would have it, my backup laptop suffered an accident with water and had to be replaced. My main MBP 15 needed service, so I put this Air 13 M1 into my workflow right away. Capture One and Photoshop are my main apps for laptops, and I tether Nikon, Sony and Fuji cameras. I had no issues with compatibility, all my equipment works. On battery power I can tether a bit longer than with my 2018 MBP 15, and 8 bit (100mp / 45mp) Photoshop files edit fine with moderate layers, etc. 16bit files can get a little laggy with pen tool masking, and various resize tools. Plugged into AC the laptop edits almost as nicely as my MBP 15 in 16bit. I’m sure there are differences, my 15 has more ram, etc. but for moderate/light masking work in 16bit the 13 M1 is good enough, and then some. For heavy editing in 16bit and lots of layers I still use a desktop, but that is true of either laptop. Other things I like are the keyboard, and no fans! I dislike being tied to two ports again, and only one port if using the power cord. Also I can’t profile the native screen how I would like with DisplayCal. There may be workarounds but I have not gotten them to work yet. I’m hoping eventually there will be full compatibility. Xrite’s iProfiler is compatible, and if you like their calibrations then you can profile through that.

This is a really good computer. I use it on travel. Most of the software I use has been rewritten to run on the M1 chip. However, I do I use Lightroom, which is not yet rewritten for the M1. in spite of that, there is a work-around so that the software can be used on this machine. Lightroom runs and runs well using Rosetta to translate the existing software to run on the M1. Adobe is rewriting their software to run natively (and presumably a lot faster) on the M1. I actually have no complaints with the way it runs now or its current speed, although I look forward to faster. I really like this computer with the new M1 chip. There is another software issue, though. For folks who use Parallels to run a virtual Windows 10 Operating System on their Mac, that is not yet possible with the M1 and as far as I can tell there is no work-around yet available. Presumably Parallels is scrambling to make that possible. I am currently switching from using my Windows version of Quicken (on my desktop iMac) to using the MAC version of Quicken. The process has not been overly painful, although it does require investing some time and effort (plus comparing the new with the old to catch translation errors). I really prefer the Windows version of Quicken software. But I think I will eventually get used to using the Mac version of Quicken. After some grumbling!

Great company to deal with. My Mac was back ordered. However, they remained in touch with me and (everywhere else also backordered due to covid and manufacturing shutdown). So glad I was patient. The Rose Gold Mac is beautiful and outperforms all other laptops!

This is why I love B&H, I used my payboo so no sales tax AND they have the 16GB RAM in stock! You always have to wait when it comes from Apple!

I was concerned that there would be bugs with Microsoft and Intuit software on the M1 platform, but they all work perfectly. Additionally, the time machine data transfer worked better than ever.

As someone who is constantly using their laptop for coding, research, and emails (bleh), this computer is amazing. Pros -Super Light and Compact -Backlit Keyboard -Full Workday Battery Life Cons -Only 2 USB C Ports and headphone jack, but multiple adapters are available to expand this.

If you just read the news papers, write letters, do spread sheets , follow email and watch the odd YouTube clip, this is the machine to go to. It’s well made, and I am very happy with the new keyboard.

I’ve had Macs since 1984. This is the best one yet. It runs the fastest (my previous was a quad core i7 with 16GB RAM) and is the quietest. The batteries last way longer than I care to sit at a computer. The standby mode really does take almost no power. For my use, I really can go a few days without charging if needed. My MacBook Air is an 8 core, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. B&H pricing plus the Payboo sales tax rebate to neutralize the California toll meant it was less expensive than using a friend’s Apple discount (roughly 15%). This is a great machine that outpaces and outruns all of the laptops I commonly come in contact with.
