The Apple 13″ MacBook Air features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). Tackle your projects with the fast 8-Core CPU and take on graphics-intensive apps and games with the 7-core GPU. Accelerate machine learning tasks with the 16-core Neural Engine. Complete with a silent, fanless design and up to 18 hours of battery life, the MacBook Air is still portable, but now a lot more powerful. It also has 8GB of unified RAM and a 256GB SSD.
With over 4 million pixels, the 13.3″ Retina Display features a 2560 x 1600 screen resolution and a 16:10 aspect ratio for 227 pixels per inch (ppi). The display also features up to 48 percent more color than the previous generation. With True Tone technology, the white balance automatically adjusts to match the color temperature of the light around you for a more natural viewing experience.
Connect to the internet via Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and use compatible wireless peripherals and accessories with Bluetooth 5.0. The two Thunderbolt 3 ports provide USB4 support and can even connect to the Apple Pro Display XDR in full 6K resolution. Apple also included studio-quality mics for clear recordings and calls. There is also Apple’s latest camera ISP in the M1 chip, which enables sharper images and more details in shadows and highlights in video calls. Keep your MacBook Air secure with Secure Enclave in M1 as well as Touch ID. The Touch Bar allows for shortcuts, the backlit Magic Keyboard provides a comfortable typing experience, and the Force Touch trackpad allows for precise cursor control, pressure-sensing capabilities, and Multi-Touch gestures.
Please note that this MacBook Air can only output to a single external display with up to 6K resolution at 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

I like that it has no fan noise at all, but is still a very powerful laptop for it’s tiny size, and the battery can last a really long time doing everyday tasks. The instant-wake when you open the lid is also nice. The most intensive thing I do is process 20MP RAW with DxO PureRaw, and it handles it just fine. Just as a tip, if you ever decide to do a clean install of MacOS, you’ll want to delete your device from findmy on iCloud first. If you don’t, you’ll get stuck in an authentication mess that makes a clean install impossible. Apple needs to get that one handled.

There is nothing like an apple! I love my new air it does all I need it to do! The only complaint is the ports there are not enough so you are forced to buy an attachment to accommodate all the add ons one has to get the job done. B&H was a great place to purchase my apple. I can’t really attest to the benefits of owning this laptop since I haven’t been able to get past the disgusting smell I was hit with when I opened the slick packaging. I really don’t know what to do. Returning it all is a major hassle and smelling this is intolerable. The laptop itself doesn’t seem to smell but am not sure if it just takes time for the smell to seep out from the innards of this shiny looking horror. Online threads seem to imply this has been an issue for years and that replacement has resulted in getting another one that is no better. How can a company like Apple who prides themselves on their high-quality products ship such offensive, inferior-quality merchandise?

Waited almost 2 months for pre-order but that’s ok. Overall this machine is brilliant. Aluminium body with enough metal thickness for premium feel, really bright new retina panel with extended colors for hdr content or maybe for some light work with photo/video content since new soc m1 with his extra power allows it for you even on air model. Sound totally changed from previous years, stereo front speakers improved with extra bass souns scrisp and will not leave you disappointed. Battery and optimisation with new processor completely changed in a positive way, feels like it can live around two times more with my routine. But I can leave some negative remarks: camera still a garbage and my air body can’t stand strictly on all 4 plastic legs like slightly bouncing but you really may don’t even notice in real use.

MBP 2013 was running poorly and my 2010 iMac died so it was time for a refresh. Wanted to get a MacBook as both a laptop and desktop replacement with external peripherals. But I was holding off to see what the 2021 MacBook Pro might look like at the end of the year. Even MS Windows (ARM) over Parallels is the fastest version of Windows I’ve run and I’ve been running Parallels since its Beta days. And by using a Thunderbolt 3 equipped monitor and various peripherals, this MacBook Air converts to a powerful desktop system. If you are in that position where it’s time for a new laptop, MacBook Air and the M1 chip provides an excellent solution.
