The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

This is probably one of the better dollar per pound of performance in Apple’s ecosystem. Obviously you still need to provide a mouse and keyboard, but for the cost, it’s a great way to get that M1 performance. Apps that are native and don’t need rosetta translation and screamin fast, even on a midlevel config. I was indeed suprised by the speed for the cost/package.

I have owned over the years 6 or more Mac mini’s. I installed this one in a Mac mini bracket and mounted this under my motorized sit/sand desk. I use this Mac for normal day to day like; mail, browsing, calendar, YouTube, and the like. I also edit my YouTube videos using this Mac mini. And when you are all done with this Mac mini in 4 years or so you can sell the Mac mini for 2/3 of what you paid. Does not get better than that. Love this thing.

The new M1 architecture is really impressive. Most people won’t even notice the switch away from Intel. Old software runs seamlessly on this little workhorse, so you shouldn’t have to worry about things not working right.

I was looking for something to replace my old intel iMac as Apple is discontinuing the 27 inch iMac. This configuration is the closest thing I can see that is M1 based and affordable vs the newer Mac Studio. They processed the order quickly and delivered it in two days well packaged.

Really pleased with this computer. It is fast, virtually silent, and blends well with the iPad and iPhone, but it has much more capability. Very reasonably priced considering it’s power and features.

I’m a professional programmer that also spends a lot of time doing audio production and audio engineering in my spare time and I needed something that would combine the software compatibility of Windows and the Unix-like environment of Linux for programming (or just having access to a bash/zsh shell natively), and this has proven to be an incredible sweet spot for my use case. If you were curious like me if this would still be fast enough in light of the M1 Pro/Max chips coming out, have no fear, despite being the cheaper of the offerings from Apple this thing still rips. I’ve had little issue in terms of performance and I’ve even gone out of my way to be reckless with apps running in the background and Chrome tabs just to test the limits of this thing. Even with very heavy audio sessions in Bitwig with lots of VST plugins and virtual instruments I have yet to hit a wall either with the 16GB unified memory or the CPU. It even does a bit of gaming fairly well (tested with League of Legends, Baldur’s Gate 3) but don’t buy this if you’re looking for a gaming machine due to performance being pretty middle of the road in regards to that. As far as programming goes my Rust code compiles significantly faster than it did before on my Windows/Linux machine and I’m happy overall with using this machine as a dev environment for multiple languages. Highly recommended if you’re looking for an incredible budget professional computer. Only cons are that the ports are a bit lacking; I intend to buy a USB hub/dock for this very soon.

I had my doubts about the Mac mini, but a good friend of mine who is also a loyal Apple user told me that I would be very happy with it, since he also has one and loves it. It doesn’t have as many jacks for peripheral devices as my old but still functioning mac pro tower, but it sure moves a lot faster and has double the hard drive capacity. As my wife said it is amazing how much computer power is packed in such a small package, so two thumbs up for the mac mini with the m-1 chip.

I bought this to replace my three year old iMac after the logic board and hard drive died at the same time. The Apple genius guy helped me plan out a Mini with a similar configuration and said they almost never come in for repairs. The biggest gain for me is the incredible speed. My only complaints are the 2 USB ports, really bad sound quality, and extra cables. I recommend getting Pebble speakers for the sound issue (easy fix and sound is great)

The new chip M1 is amazing! I’m very impressed!!! 8gb ram its enough in my opinion. 16gb it’s not necessary I guess.

This computer is a total game-changer. I have never seen adobe apps run this fast before. If you make things and edit videos this computer is great. I have renders that went from 40min to 8min on this computer. This is a total win!

I have a MacBook Pro and wanted to get a desktop for another part of the house. This PC rocks. My only issue is what everyone Else’s is…it only has only two thunderbolt ports . This baby is a terrific value ….even if you are just started out on a Mac you can’t go wrong.

I have been a Mac user since 1990 and have worked with FCP since version 2. This is by far the best Mac for video editing I have ever used. I hope more apps get upgraded to work with the M1 chip.

This machine is soooooooo fast it is amazing. Windows open before you can get your finger off the mouse or keyboard. I LOVE IT..Been using Mac for 36 years,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Fantastic new Mac mini. The M1 chip is awesome. The speed is amazing. Any reservations I had about my Intel apps not working was put to rest when most of them worked right away. I had to reinstall a couple of apps, but it was worth it for the speed!

This little machine literally made me feel bad for how much money I had wasted on much more expensive gear. I’m coming from a 3000+ PC that I built in 2017 and this machine literally ran everything I did the same or better even with some of the specs like the ram actually being lower. It’s also so beautiful and it looks great on a desk. Although it’s not meant to be mobile it’s definitely more manageable than my giant tower PC.

Arrived dead. B&H was obviously willing to change the unit, but the problem is that I live outside abroad. Luckily found an authorised apple dealer. They verified the logic board was not functioning and changed it to a new one. Been using it 2 weeks now and it is a pretty good product. What bugs me is that some everyday tasks seem to take a bit loading time, such as using safari and stuff, but some heavier stuff is handled without any problem. I suppose the efficiency cores have something to do with it. Maybe Apple needs to optimize the chip better? We’ll see it the future updates. Also the WiFi is slow. Don’t know why, have to investigate further. The same connection with my Windows machine has no issues. It seems a decent product, but at this point not worth of 5 stars.
