The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

For an everyday machine, this works extremely well, especially when it comes to cooling. It has a fan, but almost always, it is extremely solid. If someone needs a decent Mac desktop and an iMac doesn’t work, this, coupled by a port replicator, is quite nice.

The set-up went smoothly but it took a few days to update my applications to their M-1 version. Chrome crashes very infrequently now. Some Adobe apps still run in translation but updates have been planned, I guess. All, in all, it’s speedy and I’m impressed.

would have been great to know that if you do not have a newer monitor, brand new keyboard and brand new mouse it doesn’t work. We had an older mac mini with the apple keyboard and mouse, but the new doesn’t work with the old. No complaints with B & H, arrived quickly and was what we ordered.

I bought this Mac mini to replace my old 2017 Macbook Pro. I faced several problems due to the difference between intel and M1 chip. Some softwares are not ready for M1 Chip at this time and I still need to use my old Macbook Pro for several processes. I need to wait for those softwares to get ready for this new Mac chip. If you are looking for the replacement maybe you should wait for a while.

This Mini is a little beast! Potential buyers should consider getting the 512/16 version if you’re doing any kind of graphic work. The speed beats my 2014 MacBook Pro! Thank you, B&H for always providing excellent products and service!

I have had a few MacBook Pros in the past and learned I tend to use those MacBooks more like a desktop. This is very bad for the battery – I’ve learned the battery needs to be used and I really don’t use it as I should since the MacBook always sits on my desk. The Mac Mini just makes sense – no more will I have a battery expanding underneath my keyboard and Touch pad.

The Apple M1 chip is really insane. I run benchmark tests for the server side software I wrote to do intensive computing, and it turns out the Apple M1 Chip out-performed my desktop PC, it got AMD 3950x, DDR4 4000. Which is insane considering the power consumption is only 39W at maximum. The only complain I have about this machine is it got limited IO ports. You only have two USB-C, and another problem is the external monitor supports. You cannot connect two DisplayPort to the machine, only one will be recognized, as that’s what the M1 chip SoC supported. To plug-in dual monitor, you will need to do a bit workaround, like have another monitor connected to the HDMI port instead of using DP as the signal source. But since my monitors are already using HDMI for another computer, I ended up with a DisplayPort to HDMI signal converter, which makes it a bit extra stuff hanging behind my Mac mini while it can be more clean if it supported dual DP monitors. Other than that I think it’s a great small form factor computer with a reasonable price and outstanding performance and tiny power consumption.

I had high expectations for this machine because all the good reviews, but it’s too slow editing my gopro9 videos on Premiere pro. I did all the updates as soon as I got it but it didn’t seem to affect it so much. I tested it and wanted to return it the next day, that was when I found out that it is unreturnable on B&H, not so on Adorama and Amazon where you are able to return it until January 31st (more than two months and a half window). So be aware. Make sure you know what you’re getting in to before buying it here at B&H. Now I’ll try to sell it at B&H used department and get whatever they want to pay for it!

I don’t really need to write this review. If you’re looking to purchase the Mac Mini then you know all the hype behind it. Multiple videos have raved about this computer and everything is true. This Mac is a beast with the 16GB setup. I use it as my daily driver and have no issues with it lagging on any program. I moved from my MacBook Pro and love the fact I don’t have to have a bunch of dongles.

When my 27 iMac was no longer upgradable to Big Sur, I gave it to my 9 year old nephew for his school work. I decided to buy the new M1 Mac Mini and the Viewsonic monitor to replace it. The Mac Mini is FAST and even though my iMac had more RAM, the 16GB of RAM seems more than enough for my needs. Great device.
