The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

So happy with this computer’s performance with Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and everything else I need to run as a self employed Video Marketer. No issues with 4k video playback! I upgraded from a mid 2015 macbook pro which has served me well for many years, but it’s age really started to show within the last year. I wanted to make a budget friendly upgrade, and this was just the right choice for me. It has an ethernet port!!

Beeing Mac Mini user since 2007 I recommend the Mac Mini M1 to everyone Interested in Apple line. I use It together with a Bluetooth Logitech K-380 keyboard and an Apple Magic Trackpad 2, all operating on a 4K TV, with no Bluetooth issues at all. This Mini is completely silent, even though X-Plane requieres a lot of power. I also use the Mini to edit photos with Laminar AI and to edit some videos with LumaFusion (an iPad app). And also in the Mini I play some of my iPad games.

I have been using a late 2012 i7 Mac mini for years now. It works flawlessly. Thought I would Give the new mini a try. I got the 16GB 512GB version. So far? Not impressed at all. Firstly I could not set it up out of the box with my normal APPLE bluetooth keyboard and mouse….I had to find a wired mouse and keyboard. Thankfully I had my apple wired ones still available. This was unacceptable to me for an Apple product. Secondly…where is the lightning speed? This is in no way shape or form faster than my 2012 Mac mini. I think even my 27 inch late 2009 iMac runs faster or equivalent. Don’t get me wrong. It is a nice machine just not all it is hyped up to be. I do not go by benchmarks to rate a machine. I go by how well it performs on a daily basis with my programs and what I need it to do,, Also this really needs more ports than 2 thunderbolt and 2 USB ports.

I replaced my 2014 8 gig mini with this 16 gig M1 model. My last few updates were like replacing an old bike with a newer one with a better bell. This is like going from a bicycle to an airplane. Am able to run Bridge, Photoshop and a browser so much faster and am able to work on photos in less that half the time. I’m very pleased.

One of the best purchases I’ve ever made. My only complaint is that the Magic Mouse 2 connected via Bluetooth lags every so often and now has become a nuisance. I’ve tried every solution possible from online forums but nothing seems to work. I also remember this being an issue in the old i5 Mac Mini, but unsure if it’s a software or a hardware problem. The lagging does not happen when the mouse is connected to my 2016 Mac Book Pro or with the 27 inch Intel iMac.

It’s a fine computer for the price, but being incompatible with software that I need is how I discovered the BH doesn’t accept computer returns.

When Apple first introduced a dual processor PowerMac G4 two decades ago, the computer was shipped with an old MacOS 9 that could not take an advantage of its dual processor. Had to wait for MacOS X for a while. I feel the same happened with Mac Mini M1. Apple has a great processor M1, but fails again to take advantage of its power right away. Bluetooth is simply not working. Airpods Pro keep disconnecting. The computer DOES NOT wake up if you click on a bluetooth mouse or a bluetooth trackpad – you have to physically press a button on the back of the computer. NO NTFS drive support. At all. You can’t even copy from NTFS drive: you still can see the drive, but there are no files on it. The computer did not recognise my TV through HDMI. Some programs look different and run very slow. Finally, BH won’t match a lower price within 30 days on this computer.

I’m using this as a server for my hone automation including media and website. What a great machine. The M1 chip is fast and the footprint of the unit is small!

While the M1 Macs feel really fast for day-to-day tasks like web browsing, email, and creating or reading documents, the M1 processor itself just doesn’t have what it takes to make a good video editing machine. If you’re looking at it for that, you’re likely to be very disappointed. I spent over 300 hours testing this against several other computers that I own, and this one was at the bottom of the pack for video editing and rendering. For example, one 35-minute 4K project that I created for my YouTube channel takes 3 hours to render on my 16GB M1, but just 20 minutes on a similarly priced desktop PC with a 6-core i5 processor and GTX 1050 Ti. It comes down to the GPU. Video editing software is very reliant on the GPU for performance, and the GPU on the M1 chip is quite anemic in comparison to pretty much any discrete GPU on a PC at any price. At best, it performs at the level of a GTX 1050, a budget model from 5 years ago. The sad thing is that the M1 outperforms nearly all other Macs at these tasks, in some cases even better than the Mac Pro. Apple has really done content creators a disservice by providing low performance GPUs for years. This computer is adequate for most 1080p projects, but if you’re working with 4K or higher footage, or are manipulating clips with keys, scaling, or color adjustments (basically standard operations for video editors), you’re going to find the M1 to be frustratingly slow. I know that the M1 isn’t really meant to be a video editing rig, but I think the fact that Apple advertised it as such in their announcement video makes it fair game for critique. They claimed that it can handle 4 layers of 4K video. Which may be technically correct if you’re working with MP4 footage that doesn’t have any effects applied to it, but that seems like a very unrealistic scenario. If you’re looking for a computer for common everyday tasks, this performs really well. But if you’re a content creator it just isn’t up to the task.

This is the first brand new computer I’ve purchased in my life and I’m so glad I did. This thing is lightening fast and quiet. I’m planning on this baby lasting me many years and serving me well. B&H have been awesome. So happy I went with them for purchase.

I bought this for using Logic Pro X exclusively. It so far has exceeded my expectations! One word of warning however. Most plugins from aftermarket companies would not work with Logic running natively. I had to get info on the Logic App in Finder and check the box run in rosetta for the 3rd party plug ins to work. That did not fix it for ALL my 3rd part plug ins but most of them Do work now. I am keeping my laptop on Catalina to use until all my 3rd party plug ins are updated.

This thing is a beast, and has no issues with only 8GB of RAM. It destroys every workload you throw at it and never breaks a sweat, or ramps up its fans.

I ordered a 16 gb Ram, 512 gb SSD on a $150 off sale. I was reluctant to use a non-Apple vendor, but Amazon did not have the combination I wanted, and the B&H price was the best I had seen. They delivered on-time in perfect condition. I knew I would like the M1 Mac Mini. I wasn’t sure about B&H. I am now sold and will not hesitate to order from B&H again, when the price is right!
