The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

The MAC Mini is restarting, almost daily, with an error (Panic) and all applications are affected.

This is a great little Mac for FCPX editing. The M1 chip doesn’t hesitate and slices through 4k video quickly and efficiently!

works great but still have room for improvements.

I purchased this be cause my old mac pro was very laggy with my new RED komodo. I heard people saying the mini can handle it and sure enough it handles it greatly. Highly recommend it.

Was better than expected.

I have had a laptops for a long time however when the battery on it finally began to not function properly I need a mew computer. I realized that I rarely ever travel with the laptop so I began to look for a desktop. The Mac Mini is awesome. It is small and compact. I have it mounted to my wall so I am wasting no desk space. It functions really nicely. The only downside is that not all apps are working as efficiently with the new M1 processor. I know that it is just a lag with the apps and I am sure that they will all get this resolved/improved quickly. Love my Mini.

This is truly a great machine. It is a perfect equipment for replacing my old imac (mid 2011). really small, really powerful and fast.

I was due for a new Mac as my Macbook pro was headed towards its 6th year. I am not a power user, just web browsing, you tube, music, and some photo editing, this is the perfect machine for all that. Don’t let that fool you though the Mac Mini is fully capable for the power user as well. I’ve had it for over a month now and I am glad I bought it. I fully recommend it.

I was hoping to get my new Mac Mini in December but I also knew they were on back order. Mid way thru January I still hadn’t received it and then realized had I purchased thru APPLE I still would not have received it. B&H was brilliant, helpful, kept me up to speed on when I’d receive it and it showed up just like they said. Best of all was PAYBOO credit card and saving a lot of money by them discounting the tax. From many discussions I decided to install from scratch rather than a TIME MACHINE backup. Took a while but everything is working now. My only suggestion to the world is to make sure you save your email confirmations and registration numbers as a PDF and label them so when you have to install/reinstall you have all the information. It took me days but I am happy I did it that way.

I don’t know why, but the iTunes replacement Music.app this computer ships with is intolerably slow. Not only did it take several DAYS to import my library of about 150,000 tracks, searching is impossibly slow with there being a 3-4 second delay for each keypress into the search box. This machine is slower than a 5 year old intel machine running Mojave and iTunes. If you do buy it, buy it direct from Apple as BH won’t let you return it once you find out how dismal the performance is for you intended use. Or better yet spare yourself the trouble and stick with your older machine.

This computer is a great addition to my work-from-home setup. Simple to set up, lightning-fast, and low profile. I’m very happy with this purchase.

This thing is fast, really power efficient, and a lot of bang for the buck. Over a dozen browser tabs open, multiple apps open (including Logic Pro w/plugins), and it doesn’t skip a beat. It’s amazing how cool to the touch the Mac Mini is, even while using a lot of system resources. When installing my first app that has not been updated for the M1 chip, Rosetta installed in seconds and the app works flawlessly on it. I have not had any problems thus far installing and running x86 apps. As usual, B&H service was excellent and it was well packaged. I hope to check out the NYC brick and mortar store on my next visit!

Wow. Just wow. The 16Gb M1 chip Mac mini has been saving me. Upgraded from a 2017 MacBook Pro. The Mac mini is so quiet and barely struggles with what I’m throwing at it in terms of daily usage and streaming. It’s so quiet that I sometimes forget it’s on.

I don’t think I’ve ever used a more powerful machine. The only challenge is that not all apps are optimized for M1 yet, but I guess that’s something you have to deal with being an early adopter. Even the non-optimized apps though – running via Rosetta 2 – are way faster than my Intel-based MacBook Pro with an i7 processor.

The Mac Mini is amazing and super fast. B&H has the best customer service and I will definitely be shopping with them again.

The Mac mini was one of the first in Apple’s catalog to feature the company’s M1 chip in November 2020, and the performance was impressive.

So why is it a game changer? It’s at a reasonable price point as you get a small form factor, but you are also getting the latest, newest processor and ram. I think this chip is a big deal for Apple and may become their bread and butter longterm as other manufacturers may request it over Intel. I have used premiere pro on a 2018 mac mini that has an intel i7 and the M1 outperforms it as far as I can tell in every way, and that is when running the native intel program on the M1. And it costs less than half the price of the 2018 model. I noticed with Premiere pro that on the Intel version of Mac Mini it would severely lag if I tried to do other tasks while exporting out. However with the M1 I have not experienced that at all. For the price I paid for the M1 I don’t think I would have found a pc that compares performance wise. I hope this is a wakeup call to Intel and others that we need to step into 2021 and find ways to make things faster and better without costing an arm and a leg for every new improvement. I think the M1 Mac Mini has accomplished that.

Really happy with this, great machine. I own the previous (2018) Intel-based mini and this is a HUGE step up speed-wise. I’m doing audio, and what I could do 1x on the Intel, I can do 20x with the M1. A+

I love the m1. It’s fantastic. Fast in final cut. Crazy good at editing 4k video from my Sony a7sIII. BUT HOT DOG MY APPLE MAGIC MOUSE & APPLE KEYBOARD REFUSE TO STAY CONNECTED/CONNECT AT ALL. I’ve had to spend $50 or so on a Bluetooth mouse/keyboard with a usb dongle in order to have a working system. And that means ditching the Magic Mouse that I’ve grown to love over the last 5 years.. Seems like such an odd issue that could be fixed with software update. It’s frustrating to say the least.
