The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

I started with a 512 fat Mac in 1986.Then went to a series of towers that required a lot of desk space, Then I bought a late 2013 Mac Pro that I still use. However the M1 Mac mini puts everything else to shame with its speed.Apple knocked the ball out of the park with their new chip technology.

Compared it to MacPro 2010 (Mac Pro Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 16Gb RAM) running ffmpeg creating a movie from jpegs – Mac Mini: 2:58 mins Mac Pro: 12:10 mins Exact the same input and output. All other UNIX-side takes a little adjustment but even crontab works. Very fast replacement server with 12Tb USB attached storage. Overall A++ machine.

This little box does everything I need it to do and honestly probably much much more. I previously had a MacBook Pro but realized I never took it anywhere and so it was silly having a laptop. I decided to change around my setup a little bit and so I bought this mini and an iPad Pro 11 inch. They are both lightning fast. My MBP used to struggle a little bit when I would use my external monitor while also using AirPlay to extend my display to my TV, but the Mini handles everything with ease. Apps open instantly, large files open instantly as well. Apps are blazing fast, even those not yet supported (running with Rosetta), The Mini is the only M1 that supports two external monitors so h,

Very compact, no heat or noise from fans, super fast and energy efficient. With dock (aftermarket) lots of connectivity. Liking this computer a whole lot. It replaced my 2014 27 i-mac and the performance improvement is phenomenal.

I bought this MacMini to replace my 2016 MacBook Pro 15 that started to get slow when editing 60 megapixels RAW pictures from my Sony A7R4. The MacMini works like a charm with any files. I just added a HUB to expand my storage and have some extra USBs and SD/microSD readers.

I have yet to hear any fan. I do use this in my basement which is cooler but no noise even rendering video.

This is my first mac purchase. Very happy with my purchase. The Mac mini is fast, doesn’t stutter a bit when editing audio or video,I’m not doing complex projects but what I have done would’ve choked my PC. The purchasing process was seamless thru B&H from ordering the Mac all the way to receiving the computer. I Also like that the item had to be signed for, wouldn’t like the idea of a 900$ Mac mini just laying out in the elements or stolen from my porch. Thank you B&H for a wonderful first time doing business with your company!

Amazing. Just finished up a job using Final Cut Pro on the Mini. Fabulous experience. Very smooth. Just know that it’s going to be a while before all the non-Apple software catches up to the new hardware. Mvfx has already ported quite a lot of their plugs. Others will follow, as they always have. The box never once made a sound or got past room temperature… Personally, I believer that the M1 chip is going to changes things.

I added this Mac Mini to my family of iPhones and Apple TV’s and it truly makes everything so much more seamless across all devices. The mini itself if very impressive and I’ve used it to edit many HD videos and photos as well as general use to run my business. B&H also came through with a great price and delivery.

great product. Speaking as a LONG time Mac user (can you say Macintosh plus), this is a great product. Start up is LIGHTENING fast and program loading is very fast, even without an increase in RAM from a 9 year old Mac mini. Installation was a breeze … minutes. I chose not to use migration assistant, as I wanted to clean out ancient documents and programs. Copying the documents file across the network was by far the slowest process. (and that is just waiting). I save the 5th star only for review after a few months of usage. One small negative, as with all upgrades. some older peripherals may have to be retired. Be prepared for that …. an inconvenience in all upgrades.

Just got this to do professional video editing, using Adobe Suite Projects. Everything has worked great, only one Premiere crash in the two weeks I’ve had it. Video encodes lightning fast. The lack of ports is a little annoying but fixable.

The new M1 Mac Mini is ideal as a studio computer for audio and visual processing. It’s silent, and hugely powerful. The benchmarks for Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro are reliable indicators of the optimization that Apple put into this new chip. I have seen a significant increase in capacity and processing speed for large projects. I’m very pleased with this new system, and have had only a single hiccup in Big Sur compatibility: I use an external RAID array that leverages third-party software entitled SoftRAID. The driver is not currently (as of 3/9/2021) supported in Big Sur 11.2 for M1 computers, so the drives in the array will not mount. I knew this going in, and the issue will be addressed in the 11.3 update. In the meantime, I’ve been moving the files across the network from my Macbook Pro. The 11.3 update is expected by end of March, which should resolve the issue. This is a fast, elegant, and silent workhorse. It’s a big upgrade from my previous studio computer.

This machine is replacing my 2015 iMac. The form factor greatly improved my desk space. My primary usage case is general computing combined with Photo Editing using various tools from Lightroom and Photoshop to ON1 PhotoRaw. All of the applications are working great on M1 chip.

I bought my first mini in a thrift shop for $19.95 because the store had no idea what it was. I had no idea what it was. I brought it home and it fired right up. I was so impressed with it’s performance (late 2012), that I decided to replace my Windows machine with this shiny new Mac mini M1. Awesome machine. Why had I never heard of these desktops before?

It took quite some time to set it up, but after this necessary period of time, it works very well, as advertised. It is lightning fast. I use it to take care of my pictures with Lightroom and Photoshop, now I can have the latest updates. Great product.

I was a little skeptical about the positive reviews everywhere, but it turned out to deliver all that was promised. I’m a developer and many of the apps I use still haven’t been ported to Mac ARM, but performance is still snappier than on my 2019 MacBook Pro.

I had a 2011 iMac with an i7, SSD and 32GB RAM and could tell it was slowing down even with two major apps running. I watched the reviews of the 16GB M1 Mini and decided to pull the trigger at the price point. In the first week, I was able to run ProPresenter 7, Photoshop and Premiere without any glitches. Not only was it able to run them, but had ProPresenter handling the import of over 1000 motion backgrounds (170GB), Premiere playing video previews at full resolution and impressive renders. Not to mention that all of the apps open within a second. I have a 2016 MacBook Pro that takes at least 5-10 seconds to open each app, can only preview video at 1/4 resolution and can’t handle all those apps at the same time with out slowing down majorly. The ONLY problem I have with it is the well known GPU problem. The screen will randomly and lightly flicker when certain color combinations are on the screen. With a refresh, it usually stops. I have read from multiple places online that the hope is it will be resolved with the next update. Overall, paired with a quality monitor (I got a 28″ Asus 4K), it’s an absolute powerhouse, and will only continue to get better as more and more apps become compatible with the M1 chip.
