The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 512GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

This machine is all that was reported. So far I’ve had nothing but admiration for how buttery smooth everything is with the new Mini. Using Motion, Da Vinci Resolve M1 Beta has been a pleasure. I was going to wait for the M1 iMac but caught a special deal from B&H and am glad that I dipped into my lunch money. I bought the base unit and in hindsight might have opted for more storage, but that’s the only thing that’s close to a regret. Picking up a SanDisk 1TB Extreme PRO Portable SSD that’s close to the read/write of the internal and will house my home folder there. With iCloud storage used properly, I still have roughly half the internal SSD storage open.

I am on a computing budget, I was using what was a high end at the time of purchase, but getting older Intel based MacBook Pro for Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop. The M1 chip is amazing. All things that used take minutes, now take seconds (Panoramas, Exports, Enhancements, etc) … and at half the price of the old machine. Go Apple!

It can easily handle all type of functions. It would be better to have 16G ram.

Arrived dead. B&H was obviously willing to change the unit, but the problem is that I live outside abroad. Luckily found an authorised apple dealer. They verified the logic board was not functioning and changed it to a new one. Been using it 2 weeks now and it is a pretty good product. What bugs me is that some everyday tasks seem to take a bit loading time, such as using safari and stuff, but some heavier stuff is handled without any problem. I suppose the efficiency cores have something to do with it. Maybe Apple needs to optimize the chip better? We’ll see it the future updates. Also the WiFi is slow. Don’t know why, have to investigate further. The same connection with my Windows machine has no issues. It seems a decent product, but at this point not worth of 5 stars.

So happy with this computer’s performance with Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and everything else I need to run as a self employed Video Marketer. No issues with 4k video playback! I upgraded from a mid 2015 macbook pro which has served me well for many years, but it’s age really started to show within the last year. I wanted to make a budget friendly upgrade, and this was just the right choice for me. It has an ethernet port!!

When Apple first introduced a dual processor PowerMac G4 two decades ago, the computer was shipped with an old MacOS 9 that could not take an advantage of its dual processor. Had to wait for MacOS X for a while. I feel the same happened with Mac Mini M1. Apple has a great processor M1, but fails again to take advantage of its power right away. Bluetooth is simply not working. Airpods Pro keep disconnecting. The computer DOES NOT wake up if you click on a bluetooth mouse or a bluetooth trackpad – you have to physically press a button on the back of the computer. NO NTFS drive support. At all. You can’t even copy from NTFS drive: you still can see the drive, but there are no files on it. The computer did not recognise my TV through HDMI. Some programs look different and run very slow. Finally, BH won’t match a lower price within 30 days on this computer.

I bought this to replace 2 computer that broke this year, my 2014 MacBook Pro 15 and my iMac 27 retina. I enjoy the price of entry and the speed. I use Lightroom and photoshop, Lightroom to merge HDR photos, and photoshop to clone out certain things. I went with the 8gb model because the 16 gb model was sold out and the reviewers made it seem like 8gb was enough and the price was low enough for me to wait for the iMac renew. For the HDR 8gb seems to be just as fast as my old 15 mbp. This is with the unoptimized Lightroom tho. Maybe it will get faster. Graphics are better on this machine adobe premier runs smooth and that is also unoptimized. If you are thinking of getting this to merge HDR photos I think the 16gb version is better. Other than that I am enjoying this machine.

Getting HDMI to work with my monitors can be a pain, which is something that should just work right out of the box. However, I expect this will be resolved in future software updates. Plus, the efficiency and speed of the M1 almost makes up for the inconvenience of needing to toggle inputs on my monitor and/or unplug/plug-in the HDMI every time I boot up.

The 16g version works about as well as the 2013 trashcan with 64g of ram that it replaced. Playback up to 8k. After effects seems to be working. I’ve owned many Mac Pro, Mac mini’s, iMacs and MacBooks. This works tons better than the previous iMacs. I’m thinking about buying another…

On first startup it was a bit of a struggle getting my keyboard and mouse to connect, but luckily I had a wired mouse handy to get going. Installed the full Adobe suite and it works very well even in Rosetta. Native apps like Final Cut Pro fly and open in a few seconds. I’m running duel monitors and it works fine. The thing I love the most is that it is super silent, draws hardly no power and runs cool as ice even under load.

Needed to upgrade my 10-year old Windows PC for use with Photoshop and some graphic design work. I never owned a Mac before, but switching has been almost painless, and this is a great machine at a price that was lower than the comparable Windows machines I was looking at. A little low on ports, but I don’t see that being a problem, as I still have two open after connecting my keyboard, mouse, drawing tablet, and external HD.

I was looking for something to replace my old intel iMac as Apple is discontinuing the 27 inch iMac. This configuration is the closest thing I can see that is M1 based and affordable vs the newer Mac Studio. They processed the order quickly and delivered it in two days well packaged.

Runs silent and is a great value. I use it for everyday productivity work and it’s great for that.

Bought to replace a 2012 iMac, this blows it out of the water. Went for the 16GB – No complaints, happy with my decision. Hopefully I’ll get many years of good service out of it.
