The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 512GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

For what the little Mac does, it is outstanding. Especially because the fan noise is pretty much zero. It boots quickly, does well with everyday tasks, and surprised me with the ability to do video production. The good: It is compact, well made, has a beefy enough power supply to handle most USB stuff, has HDMI, as well as Thunderbolt for video out, and has built in Ethernet. The bad: As with all late model Apple stuff, you can’t upgrade it, so order it with what you need now. Thankfully B&H has models with 16 GB and various disk sizes in stock, which greatly helped. Overall, a nice machine, and I’ve had zero regrets getting it.

I bought this Mac mini to replace my old 2017 Macbook Pro. I faced several problems due to the difference between intel and M1 chip. Some softwares are not ready for M1 Chip at this time and I still need to use my old Macbook Pro for several processes. I need to wait for those softwares to get ready for this new Mac chip. If you are looking for the replacement maybe you should wait for a while.

Advantages: cheap, M1 strong performance, can be good easy to use FCPX scissors 8K, no heat, good quiet. You can run apps for iPhone, iPad, or MAC OS. Disadvantages: The old mould is still used. M1 should be replaced to make the main engine more mini. I hope it can be like NUC. Connection Keychron K6 always has a long wait to wake up, connection TV does not support TV connected speakers. Some software doesn’t work properly.

It is way faster than my i7 MacBook Pro 15″ from 2014. It has pretty much no limits.

I am super impressed with the new M1 chip. Ran Geekbench testing and it is way faster than both of my somewhat older MacBook Pros. We’ve decided to get multiple of these for our small office. I highly recommend this to anyone.

I always viewed the Mac mini as a “value” option often limited by its form factor – Not this time. This wrecks my 2019 16″ MacBook Pro in nearly all benchmarks, works beautifully with Logic Pro, and everyday tasks are quicker than ever. My only complaint is the lack of ports. I’d love an extra USB c port or two.

This computer is a great addition to my work-from-home setup. Simple to set up, lightning-fast, and low profile. I’m very happy with this purchase.

This little box does everything I need it to do and honestly probably much much more. I previously had a MacBook Pro but realized I never took it anywhere and so it was silly having a laptop. I decided to change around my setup a little bit and so I bought this mini and an iPad Pro 11 inch. They are both lightning fast. My MBP used to struggle a little bit when I would use my external monitor while also using AirPlay to extend my display to my TV, but the Mini handles everything with ease. Apps open instantly, large files open instantly as well. Apps are blazing fast, even those not yet supported (running with Rosetta), The Mini is the only M1 that supports two external monitors so h,

incompatible with most applications and plugins for audio production,….. a nightmare that lacks attention and interest in fixing by apple or Native Instruments plugins specially MassiveX

I bought this machine to replace a Windows PC and so far I am happy with it. The system is very responisve and handles everything I need without the slowness I was finding on my Windows PC.

Compared it to MacPro 2010 (Mac Pro Two 2.26GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 16Gb RAM) running ffmpeg creating a movie from jpegs – Mac Mini: 2:58 mins Mac Pro: 12:10 mins Exact the same input and output. All other UNIX-side takes a little adjustment but even crontab works. Very fast replacement server with 12Tb USB attached storage. Overall A++ machine.

While I was hoping that the mac mini would get a processor boost last month when Apple announced the m1 pro and max chips, I bought one to replace an old computer that was dying. Not only is the mini quite a bit faster than my old tower, it’s absolutely silent. I did need a pair of hardware dongles to convert my two DVI monitors to the HDMI and USB-C ports, but the mini supports both of them just fine.

I bought my first mini in a thrift shop for $19.95 because the store had no idea what it was. I had no idea what it was. I brought it home and it fired right up. I was so impressed with it’s performance (late 2012), that I decided to replace my Windows machine with this shiny new Mac mini M1. Awesome machine. Why had I never heard of these desktops before?

I have yet to hear any fan. I do use this in my basement which is cooler but no noise even rendering video.
