The Apple Mac mini now features Apple’s first chip designed specifically for Mac. The Apple M1 integrates the CPU, GPU, Neural Engine, I/O, and more into a single system on a chip (SoC). All of this boosts the Mac mini to an entirely different level, as it features up to three times faster CPU performance, up to six times faster graphics, and up to 15 times faster machine learning with the 16-Core Neural Engine. You’ll be able to work, play, and create on a Mac mini with more power and speed than previous models, making it suitable for home offices, gaming, music creation, digital art and signage, and more. Adding to the Mac mini’s power is 8GB of RAM, which helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
The 8-Core GPU delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. You’ll be able to connect one 6K / 60 Hz display using Thunderbolt 3 and a second 4K / 60 Hz display using HDMI 2.0.
For storing your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 512GB SSD that delivers speeds of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, two Thunderbolt 3 / USB4 ports that support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, as well as 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2, plus charging and power for external devices. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) for wireless access. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility Also, please be aware that a keyboard and mouse are not included.

I had been using an older intel based iMac for Photo and Video editing and felt that is was time for an upgrade. This M1 Mac Mini is amazing! I paired it with a Satechi stand/hub (which gives me more ports and SD card reader), 35 curved monitor, LED keyboard, and Logitech MX Master 3 mouse. I’m very impressed with this setup for editing and everyday use! B&H shipped it quick! Faster than I could have gotten it buying anywhere else!

For an everyday machine, this works extremely well, especially when it comes to cooling. It has a fan, but almost always, it is extremely solid. If someone needs a decent Mac desktop and an iMac doesn’t work, this, coupled by a port replicator, is quite nice.

At first, I was a little bit hesitant to get the M1 chip. But so far, it’s been running so great. It runs a lot faster than my intel 5 MacBook. Even things that don’t run natively, still run really fast and I haven’t had any problems with running it with rosetta. Considering that this is cheaper than previous models, it’s definitely a been a good purchase.

Mac mini M1 works as expected. It is quiet and snappy. Using Lighroom and DaVinci Resolve is finally a joy, not a struggle. I use it with two 32 inch Samsung 4K monitors from Costco and better rated cables from Amazon, 4k 60Hz on both of them. Initially, I hooked the second monitor from USB-C (Mac) to Displayport (monitor). That did not work, monitor appeared to be black and kind of frozen, I wasn’t even able to get to the monitor’s menu. Bought another USB-C HDMI cable (Anker) and life is good now.

All my apps pop open. Noticeable speed increase over my older Mac Mini.

I have had a few MacBook Pros in the past and learned I tend to use those MacBooks more like a desktop. This is very bad for the battery – I’ve learned the battery needs to be used and I really don’t use it as I should since the MacBook always sits on my desk. The Mac Mini just makes sense – no more will I have a battery expanding underneath my keyboard and Touch pad.

I appears to work great…way to over priced but what isn’t that is made by Apple.

I’ve tried a variety of desktops, but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to do professional work with my old desktop size again. Even after using it for about a month, there was no problem with the Motion design, and there was no problem with premiere with 4K files. I’m concerned about the heat generated by long-term use, but the heat generated is always lower than my body temperature. And there was also talk about the Bluetooth issue, but maybe the firmware has been upgraded, so I’m fine. This is really weird. Please make sure to use it. It’s no joke.

We needed these for our church for Propresenter 7. It worked great for our youth that does not need a lot of power but want something small and that will last for while!

I have been using a late 2012 i7 Mac mini for years now. It works flawlessly. Thought I would Give the new mini a try. I got the 16GB 512GB version. So far? Not impressed at all. Firstly I could not set it up out of the box with my normal APPLE bluetooth keyboard and mouse….I had to find a wired mouse and keyboard. Thankfully I had my apple wired ones still available. This was unacceptable to me for an Apple product. Secondly…where is the lightning speed? This is in no way shape or form faster than my 2012 Mac mini. I think even my 27 inch late 2009 iMac runs faster or equivalent. Don’t get me wrong. It is a nice machine just not all it is hyped up to be. I do not go by benchmarks to rate a machine. I go by how well it performs on a daily basis with my programs and what I need it to do,, Also this really needs more ports than 2 thunderbolt and 2 USB ports.

We needed to upgrade a studio computer we use for audio recording and editing. We have another 2018 Mac mini which we love and this one is even faster and cost us less. It runs dual monitors, an audio interface, a usb hub and raw audio recording without a snag of any kind. The ability to install iPad/iPhone apps natively is a nice feature as some port over nicely. The only drawback I could mention is the old models had 4 USB-C ports, while this one just has two.

The Mac mini with the M1 chip has the heft to take on most any audio or image processing. It is a great choice if one has an existing monitor that uses HDMI input as the Mini has a dedicated full sized input.

Reading the other negative reviews to not stand up to the actual 5 star review I am giving. I did a complete Time Machine back up for my Late 2015 15 inch MacBook Pro Retina. I used a Transend SSD USB 3. I powered put the Mac mini M1, migrated all my stuff from the MacBook Pro in under an Hour. Every step of the way was simple and simplistic as it should be. From my Microsoft Office, Video Editing Programs, Music, Pictures, every program Loads Extremely Fast. With the M1 chip and 16 gigs of ram I am blown away at this power house of a machine. I do a lot of Video Editing, Music, and Word Processing. The Mac mini M1 is a power house. It will out perform in its category.

The Apple M1 chip is really insane. I run benchmark tests for the server side software I wrote to do intensive computing, and it turns out the Apple M1 Chip out-performed my desktop PC, it got AMD 3950x, DDR4 4000. Which is insane considering the power consumption is only 39W at maximum. The only complain I have about this machine is it got limited IO ports. You only have two USB-C, and another problem is the external monitor supports. You cannot connect two DisplayPort to the machine, only one will be recognized, as that’s what the M1 chip SoC supported. To plug-in dual monitor, you will need to do a bit workaround, like have another monitor connected to the HDMI port instead of using DP as the signal source. But since my monitors are already using HDMI for another computer, I ended up with a DisplayPort to HDMI signal converter, which makes it a bit extra stuff hanging behind my Mac mini while it can be more clean if it supported dual DP monitors. Other than that I think it’s a great small form factor computer with a reasonable price and outstanding performance and tiny power consumption.

My previous Mac-mini still works but is no longer supported by software (a nasty trick by both Apple and Microsoft). Getting information from my old Mac-mini to the new one proved daunting. The solution was to copy all my information to an external hard-drive and just give up on making the transfer to the new Mac-mini. The folks at apple support were very helpful but the process of getting started was needlessly long and difficult. But, once you get it going, the machine is very fast and fun to use.Given that my older Mac-mini gave me over ten years of service with no problems and still works, I am hopeful to find the same with my new M1chip Mac-mini

This Mac mini is dedicated to running my church’s streaming video and does a great job! We are using OBS software and streaming to Facebook/Youtube with no issues. We run HDMI input with an Elgato Camlink 4k and capture the audio with a USB, wireless lapel mic. The order timing and delivery estimates were right on with no surprises. The box was surrounded with additional packaging and box and no shipping damage at all. I will probably buy a second one to have for personal use.

Purchased the Mac Mini for use with my business (software/ app development). Nice and portable, powerful for its size, worth the investment.
