The iPad Pro’s Liquid Retina display has a 2388 x 1668 resolution, the P3 wide color gamut, ProMotion support with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and True Tone for comfortable viewing. There is also 600 nits of max brightness. On the front, Apple has introduced a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera with Center Stage, which uses the 12MP Ultra Wide 1080p camera and machine learning to automatically pan, zoom, expand, and actively adjust the frame during video calls, whether it’s just you or multiple participants. On the rear, there are still 12MP Ultra Wide and 10MP Ultra Wide cameras for 4K, Full HD, and multi-cam filmmaking with Smart HDR 3. The LiDAR scanner is retained, which determines distance by determining light reflection and further readies possibilities for augmented reality and beyond.
Apple has also equipped the iPad Pro with 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM, plus a 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt port with a USB Type-C interface for driving displays, including the Pro Display XDR at full 6K resolution, as well as external storage and docks. Moving to the audio side of things, the iPad Pro retains its five studio-quality mics and delivers theater-like sound and support for Dolby Atmos with four-speaker audio. Also carried over from previous models is support for a trackpad, Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard Folio, and the Magic Keyboard. Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) ensures a fast wireless connection, so you’ll be able to quickly access your network stay productive.

I was never an iPad person and did my most of work in Macbook Pro. I was curious about the M1 chip and wanted to try out Apple pencil which is an input method neither iPhone or Macbook Pro have. I spend a lot of time thinking about which model to purchase and I’m glad that I ordered 11” model. If you plan to use it with the Magic Keyboard, portability is just enough for 11” model. If you plan to hold the iPad to read books and watch videos, 12.9 will make your wrist tired very soon. I came to the conclusion that iPad is built for portability unless you are a professional designer that needs a lot of screen space for drawing or illustrating. I like how B&H put everything I need in one kit. I strongly recommend it if you need something in between iPhone and Mac computers and I personally like 11” model.

Bought the iPad Pro to replace an older iPad Air. Running Lightroom and Photoshop for iPad I’ve noticed a huge increase in performance, especially with Photoshop. No regrets selecting the 11″ over the 12.9 version. The 11″ is the perfect size to carry around and to hold on your lap while editing. Bought this to be more mobile on a road trip. Used to big desktop comps so it takes some getting used to. If you are used to phone aps probably won’t have the same learning curve. Biggest hassle was getting ATT to sell me the correct sim plan that would work for data, do not get a sim plan for a cellular, it will not work.

I purchased the iPad for my wife, put big smiles on her face. She was thrilled with the quality of pictures on the screen and the colors. Using face time was an unexpected surprise when the image would change as she moved around and would adjust when a second person came into view. The iPad followed and zoomed making for a great conversation. Only regret is not buying it sooner. And having the smaller memory was a great savings, 128GB holds the pictures and videos with room to spare, plus saved $100.
