The iPad Pro’s Liquid Retina display has a 2388 x 1668 resolution, the P3 wide color gamut, ProMotion support with a 120 Hz refresh rate, and True Tone for comfortable viewing. There is also 600 nits of max brightness. On the front, Apple has introduced a 12MP Ultra Wide Camera with Center Stage, which uses the 12MP Ultra Wide 1080p camera and machine learning to automatically pan, zoom, expand, and actively adjust the frame during video calls, whether it’s just you or multiple participants. On the rear, there are still 12MP Ultra Wide and 10MP Ultra Wide cameras for 4K, Full HD, and multi-cam filmmaking with Smart HDR 3. The LiDAR scanner is retained, which determines distance by determining light reflection and further readies possibilities for augmented reality and beyond.
Apple has also equipped the iPad Pro with 128GB of storage and 8GB RAM, plus a 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt port with a USB Type-C interface for driving displays, including the Pro Display XDR at full 6K resolution, as well as external storage and docks. Moving to the audio side of things, the iPad Pro retains its five studio-quality mics and delivers theater-like sound and support for Dolby Atmos with four-speaker audio. Also carried over from previous models is support for a trackpad, Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard Folio, and the Magic Keyboard. Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) ensures a fast wireless connection, so you’ll be able to quickly access your network stay productive.

It may be because my existing iPad was extremely old and didn’t work very well, but this one is great. It’s great having one that doesn’t crash and runs quickly without waiting for apps to load. I also wished up this time and bought one with extra storage space so I now have lots of room for pics and files. The ordering through B&H was also excellent. I placed the order and had the iPad in my hands (across the country) in less than two days.

I opted the 11″ instead of 12.9″ because it’s a tablet meant for holding in hand and move around. If I wanted a 13″ screen, keyboard and track pad I’d buy a MacBook Pro. This new iPad Pro is very fast, great screen and joy to use. I have the 2TB 5G so I can store all my photos and sharing with speed. If there is anything to pick on is the price.

This is a great iPad, it looks really nice, it’s pretty light weight, and performs super fast. I haven’t gotten much use out of the M1 chip yet but I think I’m the long run this would have been a great purchase because this iPad will become outdated a lot slower than older versions (because of the M1 chip). So if you’re getting an iPad for the first time, I recommend getting this one.

iPadOS limitations compared to MacOS are frustrating. Extremely limited control over audio in, audio out, and monitor out. If the needed software were not restricted to iPadOS, I would always buy Macs instead.

This is my second iPad Pro M1. Nothing has come close to replacing my MacBook pro until I got this workhorse in my hands. Sometimes, I almost forget about my MacBook, but I am not that gutsy, yet. This is an incredibly helpful tool for my whiteboard and animation creations. Like the headline says, when you need to work, don’t leave home without it.
