Yeah, well, as the world still lives on USB-3, these are imperative for anyone with a newer USB-C MBP. These are pricey, but reliable. I have 5-7of them.

If you have a brand new MacBook, this is THE accessory you need. Just keep it in your bag. The battery lasts so long on the MacBook that you don’t need to be so concerned about running out of power and having to plug into the ONE usb-c port. This is a nice-to-have adapter for those times when you’d rather have a USB Type-C connection on your device but have to work with Type-A such as when you’re still squeezing some lift out of your old MacBook like I am.

I bought two of these with my new MacBook Pro M1. I use them for the box to talk to the external HDs and to rip CDs. As the Mac is primarily my music server, in the USB signal path to the DAC I instead use an AudioQuest USB C-A adapter of about 1 as recommended by my cable supplier.

If you want to add a DVD Drive to an Apple laptop you will need this connection adapter. It seems to work great with the Super Drive we also purchased for a new laptop.

The USB-C adapter works great with the Apple CD drive. A USB-C CD drive was hard to find & expensive. This works great.
