These days you gotta have this adapter.

Apple USB Type-C to USB Type-A Adapter: On the One Hand, I’m glad that my new MacBookPro has faster Thunderbolt / USB type-C ports which means I _could_ have faster back-up drives. On the Other Hand, it’s annoying to NOT have any USB Type-A adapters & to have printer, scanner, DVD player, & back-up drives that are all USB-A. Less expensive to buy this adapter than all new peripherals. Unlike other reviewers, I bought just the one. The USB-A end is a snug fit — almost too snug for a few of my cables, but it works.

able to convert my type A external drives for use with my new iMac 24

The product does exactly what it’s supposed to do. But considering that I just bought Apple’s latest phone and its latest laptop, I shouldn’t have to pay extra for an adapter to sync them, or to connect my camera/printer/external hard disk. This should have been included in the MacBook Pro box — by charging extra for the adapter, Apple is generating enough ill will and bad product reviews to outweigh the profits on these things. 5 stars for the product; 1 star for the pricing.

This adapter allows me to use my Kingston Lockers on the Mac as easily as I use them on the PC. There is software specifically for the Mac on each Locker.

Buy more than you think you need. I have 4 for my MacBook Pro and need extra for my travel bag.

this adapter fits snuggly and works perfectly. What else is there to say?

It arrived in perfect conditions and is necessary to buy it when you decide to invest in a MacBook Pro. Is light and perfect to take everywhere.

I recently moved up from an older laptop with only USB type A connections to one with only type C connections. All of my old devices are of no use on the new computer without adapters like these. They work perfectly. Of course, I don’t gain the higher speed connections of Thunderbolt connectivity with my older devices, but they work as fast as they ever did. I can upgrade external devices as my budget allows.

This adapter works perfect for my MacBook Pro. Allows me connect usb 3.0 devices to my laptop. I use a usb 3.0 hub with this adapter and no issues.
Odie Parker (verified owner) –
If you have owned and older Apple computer then this adapter is essential element to ensure that your USB Type A devices work smoothly with new devices.

Since I’m taking a trip to dongletown until I upgrade my monitor and other peripherals, this is a good compromise to temporarily connect older USB devices to my new Apple laptop. I didn’t need or want a full size USB hub on my desk, so this is a nice small solution for giving me a single port.

Until my existing USB devices catch up to Apples new hardware requirements, this thing is a must.
Clara Stanton (verified owner) –
It is compact and converts from USB3 to USB as it is supposed to do. No problems with connecting.
