The 13.3″ Retina Display has a 2560 x 1600 resolution at 227 ppi as well as 500 nits of brightness. It also supports the P3 wide color gamut which allows for more vibrant colors. This ensures true-to-life pictures with realistically vivid details, which are essential for graphic design, color grading, and editing. With True Tone technology, the white balance automatically adjusts to match the color temperature of the light around you for a more natural viewing experience.
The Magic Keyboard on this MacBook Pro has a redesigned scissor mechanism that delivers 1mm of key travel as well as an Apple-designed rubber dome that stores more potential energy for a responsive key press. There’s also a physical Esc key and an inverted “T” arrangement for the arrow keys. The Touch Bar places controls right at your fingertips and adapts to different apps to provide useful functions without having to navigate complex menus or memorize keyboard shortcuts. Replacing the function keys in the top row of the keyboard, the Touch Bar features a Retina-quality display and supports multi-touch input. The power button contains the Touch ID sensor, so you can quickly log into your MacBook Pro using your fingerprint. You can also use Touch ID to make purchases over the web, thanks to Apple Pay. Touch ID enables a quick, accurate reading of your fingerprint and uses sophisticated algorithms to recognize and match it with the Secure Enclave in the Apple T2 chip with “Hey Siri” functionality.
This MacBook Pro is powered by a 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5 Quad-Core (8th Gen) processor that features a burst speed of up to 3.9 GHz, while 8GB of 2133 MHz LPDDR3 onboard RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs. The system memory cannot be upgraded.
For long-term storage of your files, this MacBook Pro is equipped with a 512GB SSD. If you want to add external peripherals, 2 Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 and device charging. Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) is built-in for wireless networking, and Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals. There is a FaceTime HD webcam.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

This replaced a previous 4-yr old MacBook Pro. It is faster, the sound is crisper, and there is more short and long-term memory. I use this computer to give lectures and it would be ever so convenient not to have to carry a set of cables to connect to VGA and HDMI displays. Catalina continues to have issues with permissions and searches that are annoying and that Apple has been unable to fix.

Got this all setup for new user, and handed it over. It charged for a day, and then stopped charging. Tried several other chargers I know were working, and even used the charger that came with this one on another MacBook. It’s not the charger. The MacBook is fried!

Agonized for a while whether to buy this product or one with the M1 ARM chip. Finally decided on the tried and true version and was absolutely certain of no significant compatibility issues. Every new product undoubtedly has its fans and detractors. I’m am neither, merely practical. Very few things are certain , or nearly so, but dependability is important . The computer has great numbers in the performance realm and definitely plays well with every app I need or anticipate needing. For me its reliability is unquestioned. In addition, the screen resolution and processor speed are fantastic ! I use Capture One and Photoshop predominantly with no problems and smooth work flow. The keyboard is excellent and in general terms, this is the last of the line of Intel based Apple laptops and is not inferior in any real world use to other Apple products or Windows based machines in my experience. In my opinion and experience it is in many ways superior to them in ease and transparency of use and function. It simply does everything well. Certainly your choice, but it would be hard to go wrong with this incredible machine.

This is the pinnacle of the intel era MacBook design. The iterations on the keyboard and the Touch Bar and the trackpad have all been delivered in this 13 inch pro machine. The problem is that intel’s chips just aren’t fast enough and still use too much power. Battery life sits around 8 hours, which is the worst part, honestly. Maybe the apple chips will bring us back to 12+ hour battery life laptops.

This is for the 8GB/256GB base model. My God, this thing is sweet. I’m a software engineer who’s extremely picky about my tools, and this thing is basically perfect. I have a 2019 15 inch MacBook pro for work, and I like this 2020 13 inch way better. The new keyboard is an absolute game changer. The display is incredible. It’s very fast. It’s just the right size. It’s built like a tank. Just buy it and don’t look back.

This computer is extremely nice and the $200 discount was incentivised my purchase. It can handle pretty much everything except video games as I was getting a lot frame rate on not very graphically intensive games at native resolution. It isn’t advertised as a gaming computer so that isn’t a huge deal. I like it and will use it because macOS is top tier and it will serve me well through college.
