Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

I’ve been using a Mac since 1988 and eventually ended up with several laptops over the course of 20 years. Unfortunately, my MacBook Pro reached the end of its life. My Mac needs consist of online teaching, some video applications, but mostly music creation (must be able to handle core audio). I looked at iMacs and Mac Pro models, but they were out of my price range. The Mac Mini was the answer: Compact, cute, more processing power, 64GB RAM, 6 cores, portability, solid state drive, and more. It’s super cute and extremely powerful. Merging my Time Machine back up from my defunct laptop was a breeze. Catalina, the latest system, was already installed. Moreover, I was able to upload various DAW programs (Logic and Studio One…) with ease. I opted for the 500 GB Solid State Drive, but I recommend 750 or 1TB as you’ll eventually need the space for pictures, video, or whatever your heart desires. B & H helped me choose both the perfect mouse and keyboard. To wrap it up, this machine is a winner and the 5-star rating is beautifully justified.

I bought this specifically to process a lot of high resolution files – in terms of bang/buck these are great. The only weakness is GPU, but you can get an eGPU after the fact if you need to. Very happy with it.

This little piece of hardware is amazing! I have another Mac mini that has been in use since 2012. It still works but was getting a little overrun with all the new graphics-intensive programs and slowing down. This new platform is blazing fast, and the graphical output is amazing! If you wondered if its worth upgrading, I say YES YES YES. And B&H as always is an amazing company to buy from!

having upgraded from a well hotrodded Mac Pro Tower (5,1) this was a delightful event with a far smaller footprint, power consumption and noise levels. I wish I had done so a year ago.

Bought the Mac Mini advertised as early 2020, but after upgrading the ram to 64G saw the “About this Mac” and discovered it was only a 2018. Have contacted NYAG. After 30 yrs doing business with B&H I am done!!

Absolutely no issues with either ordering the unit or performance since it has been installed

This computer is so convenient. I have it mounted under my desk and I hardly know that it is there. It is plenty of horsepower for my photo editing tasks as well as everything else that I do. I very pleased with this.

The computer itself is great – Powerful enough to handle our daily programming duties (including multiple Vagrant boxes). The best part was B&H – Best Buy, Amazon, and even Apple’s own store were backlogged for the particular model we needed… B&H had it in stock and 1 day delivery. It arrived in 1 day, well packaged, and exactly what was expected. Not to mention, the price was discounted – Yet the product is brand new.. To get a discounted price on Apple, you have to get refurbished. Forego that, go with B&H.

My 2017 iMac (lowest end-model available) failed because its hard drive went bad, of course, so got this Mac mini, 3.0 GHz, i5 six-core CPU, with 256 GB SSD with 16 GB RAM. I work with lots of high-res photos and I am really happy with its performance so far with all of my stuff installed. Love the SSD also. From power-on to login screen is no more than 20 seconds. USB devices and backup drives work perfectly especially with powered hubs. I have not used WiFi (to test some other user’s complaints about dropouts) since I connect through ethernet wire. My bluetooth headsets work flawlessly, both the proprietary dongle type and the other that uses the Mac’s built-in bluetooth. The display I’m currently using is a $200 NEC MultiSync, TFT-LED, HDMI, which is fairly nice. This Mac mini effortlessly loads my photo applications and works with hundreds of photos at a time, much faster than my iMac did even when new, possibly thanks to 16 GB of RAM. The downside is adjusting a display to be sufficiently accurate enough for professional photo editing but not difficult. Mac mini is good to go. Happily my second in a bunch of years.

I use this model to replace my aging 7 years old MacBook Pro 15 which I had to replace the keyboard and battery two years ago. The MacBook Pro was an i7 with 512GB SSD. I found that I hardly use half of the memory, therefore I decided to get only half the story and save some money. It works out well, with the iCloud storage, the OS is smart enough to keep only the stuff on my SSD when needed. The mini works fine, just as fast (or even faster than) the MacBook Pro. I like the fact that I do not have to worry about the battery swelling up anymore. And my external 1TB SSD time machine backup work much faster than the old USB2 interface. All in all, it is a great buy.

B&H specifically has the Mac minis 2018 and 2020 separated in filter column. I ordered a 2020, and received a 2018. I do not want 2 year old tech for todays pricing. I checked online, and looks like this has happened more than once.

I replaced my 2018 MacBook Pro with this Mini and a MacBook Air. I have the Mini connected to two 4K monitors and I love it. I was using an external monitor on the MacBook Pro but it was alway on the desk, seldom used as a laptop, and it took up a lot of desk space. This Mac mini I have mounted under my desk so it is taking up zero desk space. When I need a laptop I use the Air which is more than sufficient for occasional use.

Apples are always easy to set up, this one was no exception. While a prior year model it has more than enough power to surf, play video and show photos. B&H fast service & delivery was perfect too!!!

First and foremost this is not a early 2020 model, this is the late 2018 do not be misguided. None the less is an apple so it is a rock solid product, I am using this as a home server for movies, music and photos. I have paired with a ASUS zen screen and also use a Luna Display and connect via my iPad Pro. I am very happy even though I am still disappointed that it isn’t the latest.

I’ve been really impressed with the mini. It has four super fast thunderbolt 3 ports, and multiple ways to connect an external monitor. This makes the mini somewhat future proof. I bought the 128 GB and have an external 512 GB SSD for my photo and video libraries. This ensures I don’t run out of space. This is my Final Cut editing machine, and the ability to add an eGPU is comforting.

It is so fast and steady. Loved my old iMac but this upgrade was the right answer for me.

Everything works fast and well. With a lot of connection options. Very quiet and well designed. Beautiful. I could not connect my bluetooth keyboard, it seems to be a problem wit Catalina. I love it.
