Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

Mac mini continues to be my favorite machine. The greatest combination of power consumption and performance. Not only great performance but also great expandability. I use it with multiple monitors, hardwired to a local network and with multiple external drives connected at once. Really great value in such a small package.

Good price, probably best out there for Apple products. Fast free delivery. So far the product, Mac Mini is working great and came as advertised. And I was able to pay with Apple Card via Apple Pay. You got to use their mobile site and Apple Pay has to be associated with the device you are using for the purchase; in my case an iPad. Got my 2% back from Apple this way. Hassle-free buying experience.

The 2018 Mac Mini is a vast improvement over the 2014 model. Finally a decent computer, albeit a bit more pricey. Quad Core, and at least RAM can be upgraded. The reason I mention typical Apple is the video on the machine. Apple doesn’t want the Mac Mini to impact it’s iMac line so they give the Mac Mini a less then preferred video card. However the Mac Mini can by expanded with an eGPU using an external Thunderbolt 3 expansion product. So if you’re in need of better graphic support it’s available. One last note is that we’ve had terrible compatibility with the HDMI port on this new Mac Mini. Depending on the display used the HDMI won’t stay active or fails to sync unless you unplug and plugin the cable. Solution is to use a USB-C to HDMI or USB-C to Displayport cable/adapter. Since these are inexpensive it’s not a deal breaker. Overall it’s easy to recommend the new Mac Mini even with a few small issues.

This base model of the Mac mini performs remarkably well — even using Parallels with Windows 10. It is exceptionally well built with a weight deceptively heavier than its small size. It exudes quality. Very pleased with the purchase and would consider another Mac mini to complement two i-macs.

I love it – working fast and furious – more then expected A+ Previously I had iMac 2015 and after upgrades become very slow and was good only for Emails and web browsing along with reading books and other easy stuff. THIS Mac MINI is so FAST and I install programs like MS Office & Adobe Creative Cloud, Evernote and other ahvy programs and they open and work very quickly, smooth and seamless experience. After that I love my Mac and start to use it more than Windows PC for my projects. Now I will save my money for the NEXT 2022 Mac Generation – it should be awesome !!!

This Mac mini is working well for digital music recording and production. It seems to have enough horsepower and rarely hangs up. It was easy to set up. The only complaint is that the hdmi port did not seem to be rock solid for a monitor connection and sometimes I had to switch the monitor off and reseat the cable. Could be the cable, but the problem repeated with a different cable. Solved by connecting monitor to USB-C port.

Fairly easy to set up and transfer data from old Mac to the new Mac. only problem was that a couple of my old apps were no longer compatible with the newer operating system on the new Mac so I had to re-purchase the up to date versions on a couple of my apps. Also transferring the email app was easy but I had to re-enter the settings on the new Mac for the email to work. Apple Support was helpful and quick in getting that set-up for me in a short phone call. This Mac Mini is wonderfully fast and easy to use. As a photographer I use Photoshop a lot and the graphics software in the computer are totally up to the standard I require for my professional work.

Needed an Apple device for iMessaging and other Apple functions… For the price you really go wrong if you already have a KVM setup that you’re happy with. It’s a great 2nd machine if you’re primary is Windows and you need an Apple device with keyboard functionality.

this is the second item that I have ordered that was labeled in stock at B&H Photo. as soon as I ordered the item the first one says back-ordered in my status and this item now says Discontinued.

Small firm factor makes it very portable and easy to set up. USB C devices attached are super fast and hot swappable.

I had a MacBook Pro from 2007 that was mainly used for creating/recording music and DJ gigs. That computer was a workhorse that just began to slow down over the last couple years. I decided to go with the Mac Mini this time around as it is portable enough to carry around while being priced well below a new laptop. I couldn’t be happier. You definitely get a quality product when you go with Apple.

Loved my 2012 MacBook Pro, I really stressed over a replacement – initially ordered 2018 MB Air from B&H which arrived damaged and did re-think. It did feel like a hasty compromise when I ordered the MBA. I thought about how I used my 2012 MBP – mostly in one location and plugged into an outlet. The intrigue of the Mac Mini bit and stuck. I wanted BT 5.0 and that wasn’t MADE available by Apple at the time. I liked the specs 3.0 chip, 256 GB etc and paired with Apple keyboard and mouse due to review complaints about connectivity with both devices. If there was an issue I would deliver all to the local Apple store and they could sort it out. I was really perplexed by Apple butterfly keyboard mechanism issues on their labtop line and their 4 year extended keyboard warranty from product introduction will roll around quickly. So Mac Mini with it’s compromises (quiet speaker volume, no FaceTime camera or microphone) was decided and the last hurdle was finding a smaller display so I did not accidently knock it over. There are essentially 2 decent quality 14-16

This is by far the cheapest way to get an i7 six-core in an official Mac. I probably didn’t need the 512SSD, but I wanted to make sure I had plenty of onboard storage. 32GB of Crucial RAM $150. Razer Core X and Radeon RX580 $500. Speed Designs cooler $160. Blazing fast Mac, priceless.

2018 Mac mini I7 16GB ram & 512 SSD 2014 Mac mini took 125 seconds from boot to log in. 2018 is 25 seconds. 2014 Mac mini took long time to open Excel. Photoshop or Premiere. The 2018 takes about 2 seconds. I couldnt be more pleased

I have been using my new mac mini (3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Six-Core, 32GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM, Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 1TB PCIe SSD) for a couple of weeks. It is fast — opening, running data analyses, graphics programs etc. But, it runs hot when multiple data streams are running at once. In fact, it shut down twice due to overheating. I do not know if it has an internal fan, but if not, it could use one.
