Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

Buying an APPLE product gives absolute happiness

I have used and loved Apple products since 1995. In my opinion they provide great value for money. While they are more expensive than other products supposedly doing the same thing, my experience is that the Apples are still useable years after the others have been tossed. This Mini just purchased replaces an iMac from 2006 (which has since moved to another venue to continue chugging away at producing written materials and invoices). I expect it to last years!

This is my first Mac. I have been a lifetime user of the PC. All of my other Apple devices work so well with the Mac. Wish I would have switched a long time ago.

I am an avid user of PS And FCPX! I don’t know why I never considered this configuration of equipment! This little power house is AWESOME! I upgrade therm myself, super easy by the way, and had the ability to select all my periferls o suit my personal needs. I will never purchase a pre configured iMac again!

Enjoying this great find from B&H. Plenty of ports, delivered expediently and ontime. Updates to current iOS, internal speakers suitable for low noise environments and perfect pair for monitor with no audio outputs.

It’s been in an Apple repair facility since early Thursday. Quite disappointing.

If you love and hate Apple the way most long-time users (like me) do, you will more love than hate the Mac mini. Unlike most Macs, the Mini has almost enough IO connections, and those it does have are more than up to date. It is upgradeable after purchase as well! If you don’t want the cost of Apple displays, the Mini is perfect. I have a UHD Wacom combo drawing / touch screen, for instance, so I don’t need (or want to pay for) a Mac display.

High quality equipment. I only got 128GB SSD which is very fast but not enough space for most people. This machine is only meant for one purpose though and a lot of storage was not necessary for me.

Has everything you need in a Mac. So much to explore and the new OS is great! Loving the Apple experience. Add a monitor and you are set!

Definitely does the job we needed for serving as a lightly used web browsing machine

Great workhorses for general workstation work for graphic design, development, and light-weight rendering. This unit was purchased because we needed 16GB of memory for use on a workstation running VMware fusion. Since most of our storage is network based (NSF and iSCSI), the limited 128 GB SSD was not too crippling. Would not work for one of our workstations that require bigger disks that synch iPhones with 128 GB or more memory. They require at least 1TB to store the photos, movies, and iTunes phone backups.

Been on the market for a new Mac Mini for a while and finally ordered this one. Maxed out the work I could on my Macbook Pro for music and video production and needed a workhorse machine. Computer does a great job handling a lot of work and it fits nicely with my limited desk space.

I’m never a fan of Apple’s new OS, but I am a huge fan of the Mac Mini which has served me well in different varieties going on about ten years. This Mac Mini doesn’t dissappoint, it’s rocket-fast, quiet, and just runs like it should with no issues. What I don’t like is Apple’s new OS, where they have completely changed the Finder view for looking at files and pictures. Many Mac users do design and photo editing, and I’ve always loved the feature of opening a folder and flying through thumbnails in the list all navigated by the mouse wheel. This feature is alarmingly gone in the latest few versions of Mac OS, and it’s annoying because it’s now slower to navigate thumbnail images because you have to click and swipe each one by one. There is absolutely no work around, and I have no idea why Apple did this to their creative-minded customers. Please note this is not a flaw in the Mac Mini, it’s in Apple OS, but you should know about this if you plan to upgrade from an older OS. Also gone are the SD card reader (why?) and 4 highly coveted USB ports, you’re now down to just a couple and you lose the mic jack. In place of the USB are extra Thunderbolt ports (who needs em!?), yes I know you can get adapters to run USB but since so many of us mostly have USB, wouldn’t it make more sense to have more USB than the lame thunderbolt ports? This is easily solved by a cheap USB hub, just read reviews and get one that is compatible because the wrong one can fry your board. Now to the nicest surprise of all – pair this Mac Mini with a 4K monitor (I like LG 27) and whammo you’ve basically got a Retina display only available on costlier Macs. Warning: you will have trouble going back to a regular display after this. Another great feature that is exclusive to Apple (as far as I can tell), is they have this cool scaling feature when you increase resolution. Remember when larger HD monitors first came out and when you went up in resolution everything got ridiculously smaller on the screen? Like all text, and desktop icons? Well Apple has a nice workaround (finally, something I like in their OS) so as you go up in resolution, you have this cool scaling option where you can choose from 4 to 5 different size options for how text and images will look. So if you want to rock that 4K imagery you don’t have to suffer having every single thing shrunken. To find this out ahead of time I did lots of research and played around with the iMac’s at a local big box store, I got one of the sales reps to look up my question as to whether this would work with external monitors… and he said he was pretty sure it would because it’s in the OS not just the iMac. He was right. It does work. And it’s awesome! The best of both worlds. By the way, I originally purchased this Mac Mini from that big box store website (it was only available online), and the bozos shipped it in a thin vinyl envelope with zero packing padding. I immediately marched it down to the store for a return. Then I purchased the same item here on B&H and have been very happy. B&H packed it like it was shipping to Mars, a box inside a box with plenty of bubble wrap. Nice job, guys. Get this Mac Mini and pair it with an 4K monitor and it will look just like Retina. Enjoy.

Great machine…newly used so time will tell…but so far very impressed. Set up was a breeze…and it updated the software quickly within the first hour of turning on. Unit has 2 USB ports and 4 Thunderbolt ports…so…if you plan on hooking up more than 2 USB devices standard way…think again. Get yourself either 4 Thunderbolt USB cables or 4 Thunderbolt Type C to USB extenders cables to hook your standard USB cables to. We purchased the Type C to USB extenders from a third party and they work just fine. Unit is slightly bigger than older previous Mac mini’s but the height is shorter on the new ones…so it’s a slight compromise…no big deal. Silent operation as usual, HDMI port is a great feature and works flawlessly. We used an existing apple mouse and keyboard which were recognized…although the keyboard wasn’t recognized so easily…but somehow seems to be working…so we’re going with it. No problems dealing with B&H…fast and reliable company it seems. Will do business with them again in future.

I have always been a Windows person but purchased the Mac mini because of a specialized application need. I am so glad I did. What a great piece of equipment. Does whatever I need and never breaks a sweat.

We have purchased from B&H before and again, a great experience. Delivery was quick. Arrival and installation was flawless. No issues. This Mac Mini is a definite upgrade to the Mini (many years old) that it replaced.

Replaced a 2014 Mac mini as a server at our office. The newest model rocks! Catalina is stable. SSD is fast. Will probably get another for another application here. B&H has great stock with fast delivery.
