Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

I switched from a Macbook Pro 16 to this since working from home. The Macbook was taking up too much real estate on my desk and I wanted to max out the RAM as well. Bought this together with 64GB of OWC RAM. Pretty easy to switch out the RAM if you have the right tools, and so far works well, Have Windows 10, Centos, Ubuntu VMs running and this definitely performs well. Gets a little hot but install the Macs Fan Control app and it will help a lot with the heat!

Purchased a couple weeks ago. First Mac, there was a bit of a learning curve, but so far so good. Purchased an Acer curved 144hz 1080p monitor, love the look. Connected to my windows keyboard and mouse and old cannon printer with no issues.

The new Mac Mini is everything I hoped for and then some. Photoshop loads quickly, in seconds. Its very quiet. Waking up from sleep is a few seconds. I have a Gtech 4TB disc on Thunderbolt. It rocks.

Really nice compact set up. Specs are good. Running Pro Tools with no problem. Only issue I am having is the Magic Mouse interference problem others have mentioned. Have not found a solution yet, read that it may be conflicting with a usb hub. Overall a keeper!

I am making the switch to Mac from PC. Loving this little machine. It is making the transition super simple. Very easy setup. Buying from BH was great. No hassles and the machine arrived promptly.

I needed this machine to offload by movies and tv library from my MacBook Air because its scale with my music library was such that my 64MB Apple TV 4K Computers App simply couldn’t load the combined libraries when I tried to connect them. Plus, I’ve long had a hankering to have a Mac Mini just to experience it. I added a USB-3 8TB drive to hold the libraries and to serve as a location for Time-Machine backups for my other machines. It took over 24 hours for the video libraries to transfer from the one disk to the other, but once that was done everything went smoothly. To get started, I unplugged my Roku and used its HDMI cable so that my TV could serve as the monitor and I plugged in a keyboard and mouse. After the preliminaries, I upgraded to Catalina (the Mac Mini comes with Mojave installed), and then I set it up to allow file and screen sharing. Ever since, I’ve been driving the machine when necessary (e.g., to add new TV shows) using Screen Sharing from my MacBook Pro. The Roku is plugged back in (although, in all honesty, I hardly ever use it any more). The keyboard and mouse are back where they came from. The machine is just humming along doing its thing and I’m as happy as a lark. I bought the minimum configuration possible confident that for my usage plans I’d not need a larger internal drive, and happy with the knowledge that should the internal memory become an issue, I can purchase an OWC upgrade to expand as far as 32 GB — I seriously doubt this will ever be needed, but it’s nice to know it’s possible.

Happy with my 1TB hard drive and 8gb ram, which I can upgrade myself. This is why I love this computer.

I bought this machine to replace (4) 2010-2011 models and I was able to consolidate all the workloads onto this single machine. I did an aftermarket RAM upgrade to 64GB and I am now running (7) VMs on this machine in addition to the base OS. That’s 2 Windows servers, 2 Windows workstations, 2 virtual Macs and a linux instance. Couldn’t be happier. The RAM upgrade took about 30 minutes, but was easy with the right tools and instruction video.

I own a operate a recording and previously had a 12 core 40gb of ram 2009 Mac Pro. I felt it was time for a upgrade and the best option was the i7 Mac mini. Once I received it and got everything connected and up and running I immediately noticed a difference in performance and speed. I’m running the latest version of Avid Pro Tools Ultimate and I’m able to run sessions that wouldn’t run properly on the Mac Pro. Overall I’m happy with this purchase and I feel this will do it’s job until I’m able to step up to the newest Apple Mac Pro.

All is great, love the new Mac Mini, however, it would have been better to know that users can no longer easily upgrade the RAM memory, would have bought a more expensive unit … steve

Excellent i7 6-core machine. Added more RAM (3rd party) and makes a great system. Just needs a keyboard and mouse. Small footprint and has high speed USB C inputs along with USB.

I use my mini to replace an aging MacBook Pro. My laptop was already hooked up to a monitor and Bluetooth keyboard/mouse. I rarely undocked the laptop so it just made sense to go with a new Mini that had more power and was far cheaper than a new MacBook. The graphics and speed are perfect for heavy business use. I use the MS Suite extensively and its fast and reliable. Upgraded RAM allows me to run several programs at once with no loss in speed. The Mini is reliable and handles everything I throw at it. The small form factor makes it occupies less space on my desk than the MacBook. It has connections for peripherals but Bluetooth printer, keyboard and mouse means the only peripheral is my 27″ 4K monitor (looks beautiful). I fully recommend the Mini
