Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

This is my 4th mac. My newest one before this was a 2015 Macbook pro. From what I hear this was the last year Apple made a good laptop/desktop. In 2016 the professional photographers left Apple in droves and went to windows. I left windows in 2009 for the reliability in Apple and had many years of great service. However after buying this 2018 model I understand people leaving. First the t2 security chip caused me to jump through many hoops to get things working properly. After that the only problem was the display turning off after boot. From what I have researched on the web this was an ongoing bug for a year after the release of the OS Mojave. Apple recently put out a fix which cured this problem but added many more. Now the finder is constantly locking up along with Safari. Other browsers became totally unusable. I have tried many fixes that I have researched with no luck. Judging from web forums these problems are common to a lot of people now. You can have these headaches and problems with windows for a lot less money. Unfortunately this is probably the last Apple product I will buy since you no longer get any better reliability or quality for the extra premium that you pay for Apple.

It was challenging to know that this was the 2020 version, when the B&H description said 2018. Also, these units have a known problem in connecting to some HDMI monitors, which of course I had. Excellent sale price though!

This is the second Apple Mac mini I have purchased. The first was an open box item purchased at another retailer 10 years ago. I love the Mac mini, it is a perfect size for our needs, and the new machine itself is working great. I know there is a lot of hype connected with the Apple brand, but I will have to say, the items I have have had, have worked well . I also know they are expensive, I got a good price through B & H. You will be happy with this item, I am not trying to sell these for B & H, they are a worthwhile choice.

I love my Mac mini! I bought this one to replace my old one from 2012. The price was great, paying was super easy with Apple Pay and it took less than a week to get to me. Thanks!

The new Mac mini is much improved over the older versions. My first Mac was a mini back in 2007. Since then I owned a MacBook Air 2011(which I still own) an iMac 27 in 2014 and a 2016 MacBook Pro 16. I work at home more now like everyone else and since my wife needed a new laptop we decided to purchase the Mini and pass the MacBook Pro to her. The mini has the same configuration as the more expensive MacBook Pro, i7 intel chip, 16gb RAM and a 256gm SSD drive, so this was a lateral move. The mini is super fast and connected to two 21 4k LG monitors it delivers a great experience. I was concerned about heat, since the MacBook Pro would get pretty hot while connected to the 2 monitors but the mini handles them just fine. It’s compact and freed up more real estate on my desk. No regrets switching to the Mini and from what I read the next generation of Mini’s will be even more powerful and still at a decent price point. So if you work from home and need a new powerful computer without breaking the bank, Mini is the way to go.

Gave this as a gift to replace a 2014 MacBook Air. This Mac Mini was still new in the box. Not refurbished or used, so the price was incredible for a new in the box item. Much faster than the old MBA and able to update to Monterey. So far very impressed with this little unit.

Even though this Mac is a few years old, it worked great out of the box. Clean and neat packaging. Easy to get set up.

3.2 GHz Intel Core i7 Six-Core 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM 512GB SSD over all very fast

Much faster than my old Mac Mini. So far, no problems at all. I use mine as my main computer attached to the large screen in the front room to watch streaming videos. I also do 3D modeling, and graphic card speeds are fine but compute of the final image is much faster. Now to get my hard drives upgraded to the new faster interfaces, all from B&H of course!

I’ve been an iMac guy since 1999. My last iMac (late 2015) got fried by a lightning surge and my repair guy couldn’t get it running properly again after multiple attempts. Each time he had to unglue that screen from the rear shell and one time he accidentally nicked the screen and had to order a new one of those! Based on all that, I decided it was time to go modular. I opted for the latest year model to keep things future-proof and to get the 512GB internal drive. (Good call for me – the 256GB drive would have been crammed to the gills just with my apps and some media. I got an external SSD for my photos.) I love how fast it boots up and launches apps. I got the cheapest semi-reputable 4K monitor I could (Samsung UR50). At first it seemed subtly less dialed-in color wise than the built-in iMac screens used to be. But my eyes have gotten used to it now. (I might splurge on a 5K LG eventually.)

Difficult set-up, transfer of documents and data could not be completed. My 4 most important applications will not run on it. To use them, I will have to spend more than I did for the computer. Definitely considering returning it tomorrow.

This was my first time purchasing from B&H and they exceeded all my expectations from purchasing to even returning an item. Fast, kind service. I highly recommend them!

Seems to work exactly the same as the 2018 Mac Mini with more storage for the cost. It does come with OS 10.15.x Catalina so for those who want to stay on 10.14.x Mojave, get the 2018 model.
