Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

I replaced a 2010 Mac Mini with this newer model. I am not a demanding user, just some email, WP, and related tasks. It fulfills all of those, and uses my Apple Cinema Display with just minor adaptation needed. I see that another reviewed decried some of the choices Apple made about input ports. I already used the Cinema displays USB ports, and put in a Belkin 7-port USB hub for other things. For me its fine, but for others…maybe not so. In any case, its great for my simplified uses, and its a vast improvement over the 2010 version I own.

The fastest Mac mini machine I ever had. Going to upgrade the RAM to 32GB like many others here. Very fast. Needed a number of adapters for my old peripherals but acceptable. Very nice experience with B&H. Fast shipping and durable packaging.

This review is really about my disappointing in B&H and not the product itself. The Mac mini here is clearly advertised as the early 2020 model. However after setting up and checking “about this Mac” on my shiny new hardware it showed as a 2018 model! There are little changes between the 2018 and the 2020 model. I believe it’s really just a difference in the provided disk space. Nonetheless, I am disappointed that B&H will advertise a 2020 model and then sell a 2018 model.

Great little machine. Mac mini has always been my go to Mac. I love that we can upgrade the memory again. I would have liked upgradable internal hard drives, however with thunderbolt 3, you can achieve speeds with externals that are comparable to the internal SSD. No GPU, but eGPU make that solvable as well. Best Mac to buy if you don’t need to be portable and have an external display.

I purchased my first Mac Mini spring of last year (2018 model) for myself, and when we retired my wife’s 2008 Mac Pro, decided to replace it with a 2020 Mac Mini. We wanted a solid desktop, and having sufficient monitors, keyboards and mice, the Mac Mini fits in just fine, one of the more affordable options today from Mac. Does everything we need, supports plenty of optional devices, and takes up minimal desk space. Just make sure you have options for any 32 bit programs you may have depended upon as the new O/S (Catalina 10.15.4) will not run on this purely 64 bit platform.

B&H has become my go to recently for home office computer needs. Barest power of a Mac at a great price! I have been With Apple for almost 20 years, worth the price for quality and dependability/reliability!

These Mac Mini units are good if you pay extra to double the base ram, and you use an external SSD to use for additional applications and storage as the base SSD is too limited. If you are running local backups and have 128 GB of photos and a couple iTunes phone backups, you’ll need to greatly increase the disk space, as well. Except for one Mac Mini, all of our Mac Mini’s we’ve purchased last until they are just too slow for the current software and we retire/rotate them out of our production workstations.

Very pleased to find this Mac mini at B&H. They had a great selection in stock. Ordering was simple and it arrived two days later. I already had an iPhone, iWatch and iPad, so my Apple culture is complete now. Took me a few days to get used to the differences from my Windows PC but have adjusted very well.

Love it! Takes up so little real estate on my desk, yet does for me everything I’d want from a full-sized desk top.

I picked out the i3 quad core mini with 8GB of RAM with the intention of using it as a media center computer to drive my 4K tv. Even though it is a pretty low spec the machine is very snappy and can display 4k60 video for hours without any hiccups. I was a little worried about whether 8GM of RAM would be enough, but so far the system only uses about 6-7GB of RAM for my needs. The computer never gets that warm and I can’t hear any fan noise when sitting about 8 feet away from it.

I was really impress with the power and compact design of this machine. I was looking for a small quiet computer to drive 2 4K monitors for general business computing. This machine has been fantastic, and with a cheap user upgraded RAM swap, it has been more powerful than I would have imagined. I have even done some light 4K video editing and it handled it like a champ. I would highly recommend.

I read the reviews of this computer and knew it was going to address all the criticisms of the previous generation Mac mini (2014) which was long overdue for an update. It certainly has done that and is extremely fast. I chose i7 processor, 512GB SSD version. Love the size, and especially love the speed. Very happy with it! Also, B&H is the best, so definitely bought it from them!

This Apple computer works great for me for the following reasons. I use it to edit photography, I use my own displays that are ideal for photo editing, I don’t need a GPU so that’s not a problem for me. You can upgrade the RAM yourself so you can save good money. The computer is powerful, affordable and small. It’s a great choice!

I procured this Mac Mini as a gift for my mother for Christmas. For someone who’s exclusively into Photoshop and Lightroom, the Mac Mini has everything you need and nothing you don’t need. After getting the memory upgraded to 32 GB via an authorized Apple service partner, the Mac easily tears through all kinds of tasks related to photo-editing. This system truly is a winner!
