Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

I was looking into replacing my 2013 Macbook Pro and configured a Mac Mini on the Apple website. It was going to take over a month to be shipped. I was able to find the same exact configuration I wanted at B&H and it arrived within 2 days. Excellent packaging and service.

Big monster in small package is the definition of this setup. The top of the processors is one of the most powerful now in the mac line , more powerful than almost all mac pro, all macbook pro and the rest. Just one mac pro and all the imac pro go faster than this small machine. But the lack of space make not possible put a good graphic card inside. I bought an external gpu with a radeon vega 64 inside and works very good. Bur is another 1k extra dollars. Of course that eGPU works perfect in my 2017 macbook pro too, and can be used on every mac if I need on my studio. That’s good. Another thing because I can’t give a 5 is the way that apple wants to make us difficult update our macs. Soldered ssd leave us paying a lot for apple soldered ssd. And in the market you find the same speed and capacity NVMe ssd for the half or less of the price. But over all a great machine

Finally upgraded an old Mac Mini to this version, a base model, but plenty powerful for my needs. Getting the Intel version was also very helpful as I need Windows to run ArcPro, via Bootcamp. Set up was absolutely painless and everything is fast to load. B&H, as always, was stellar in their processing and delivery.

I bought the 3.2Ghz 6 core i7, 8GB, 256GB SSD. My only regret is that I didn’t spend just a bit more and get the 512GB SSD. Otherwise, this is a great replacement for my 2011 iMac. Of course, I had to buy some things like a monitor, keyboard and trackpad. The Mini came with 8GB but I upped it to 32GB. Except for graphics the Mini is a beast! It came with Mohave but I recently upgraded to Catalina Beta and it works great! Some don’ts, do not buy Apple’s keyboards, they are simply overpriced. I went for a Space Gray look and found the Space Gray Magic Trackpad 2 on eBay for less than what Apple charges and an iClever keyboard for around $30. I found a couple of 1TB SSDs for $109 each and so my main storage is SSD and as such the system is extremely quick! If you want to expand your options the Mini has 4 Thunderbolt 3 ports and 2 USB 3.0 ports. I chose the Gigabit Ethernet but a 10 Gigabit is available for $100 more. There’s also an HDMI 2.0 port and a speaker port. RAM is upgradeable but unless you have the tools and know what you’re doing you are better off letting a pro do it. Now, if you want to do gaming or graphics intense work, get an external GPU! Graphics are the weak link in the Mini but otherwise it really is a Pro level system. You would have to spend considerably more to do better. I like the small form factor but do get the most powerful CPU if you can afford it. This will help future proof your system for quite some time.

I am sitting here writing this review on my mac mini I bought from B&H,use it nearly every day. It works fine and has not missed a beat, doing everything I have asked of it. Quality seems to be excellent and hoping it lasts a long time.

If you run an office that uses a Mac Mini then you know these are better than sliced bread. Why? Because unlike PC’s these keep running and upgrade with no headaches. The only issue is that they last for so darn long.

The best computer I ever owned and a huge upgrade from my 2012 Mac mini. Once again, an excellent price and super-fast delivery from B&H. In my opinion, B&H is a world-class Company and is a model for other Companies to emulate. Thanks again, B&H!

I Bought this computer to work with multiple software instruments at the same time in my DAW (primarily Apples MainStage 3) and it absolutely smokes other top of the line MacBook Pros Ive had in the past. I bought this computer with 8GB of memory on purpose and bought 32GB of memory from BH at the same time. Super easy to install (although you DO need to buy a SAFETY hex screwdriver set – cheap on amazon but NOT in your local hardware store. SAFETY hex screwdrivers have a pinpoint in the middle of the driver to work with safety hex screws and regular hex, star, or Allen keys will not work). Once the 32GB of RAM was installed the computer was unstoppable!

I like it. The only thing negative thing I have to say about is the coloring of the computer doesn’t withstand Dings on the edges. I have silver dings on the edges of the computer.

Replaced my 6 year old 27 iMac w/ the Mac mini. So far no issues or complaints. Much faster than my iMac. I wish the SSD was user replaceable. I ended up with 256. I have a 4TB external plugged into USB-C to store my iPhotos and DVR recordings.

Aesthetics, wise, its great! Stays cool to the touch. MacOS rules. Love the port selection, as I still have legacy USB devices. The HDMI port is great too. Wish it had a discrete GPU, but oh well.

Bought this Mac Mini to learn macOS. New to Mac and have never used one before (have always been a Windows PC user). Bought the Mac Mini with Intel i5 Six Core processor, and paired it with a 32 LG 4K display. So far so good! Impressive speed and ease of use. Easy to set up and very quiet machine. Comes with Mojave OS, which I just manually updated after powering on the machine and registering for the first time. YouTube and Netflix 4K videos looked awesome! B&H shipping is quick and Free – Im in California and I received my Mac in 3 days! Highly recommended especially if you are on a budget but want a good Mac to use and learn.
