Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

I have called Apple about running simple programs and the extreme heat generated.

I originally purchased a different computer from another company but they were unable to get me the machine in a timely manner. The primary use is to edit photos and create short videos. When I couldn’t get the other computer I decided to go with a Mac mini as it will do everything I need it to and I already had the 4K monitor, keyboard, and mouse. While a 1TB SSD is enough space for current projects, I have added a much larger external HDD for archiving old projects and keeping backups. B&H got me the Mac Mini a day earlier than promised. I set it up quickly and had all my software installed and working that afternoon.

Replaced my Mac mini (late 2014) with this one. A little bit faster processor, but the biggest improvement will be when I upgrade the RAM memory, which was not possible on the old one.

So far no complaints, system works great. And of course B&H support and shipping was as always perfect.

Before purchasing my Apple Mac mini late 2018, I carefully researched differences between it and the so-called Mac mini 2020. For my purposes I found none! Base SS drive increases on both from 128GB to 256GB and specs side by side are identical. The 2020 does offer SS drives up to much more capacity but 256GB is all I require. Since Ran can be user increased, I intended to do so after waiting a while since this would void the Apple warranty. Then I discovered that a B&H technician would do the job for $39.99 but only at time of purchase AND Apple warranty would be preserved. I added a Crucial 32GB Memory Module kit to my purchase for $123.99 and B&H took only one extra day for delivery. My Mac mini with 32GB Ram has been performing flawlessly for many weeks and I could not be more delighted! Savings over buying Apple 32GB version $400! Thank you B&H!

We purchased this same Mac Mini from Apple for our church back in 2020 right before the lockdown and it served us well for the online streaming. We had an older Mac Mini that needed an upgrade to keep up with our latest software upgrades. Apple said it would be weeks before the machine would ship. Fortunately B&H came to the rescue and I was able to order receive this Mac Mini within a few days. Thanks yet again for your reliability B&H! –Charles

I upgraded the RAM to 32GB and this thing just…STOMPS! By far the best Mac I’ve ever owned dating back to my first IIsi in 1990.

I have had multiply issues, including it restarting for no reason at all and one of the USBC ports unmounts any drive plugged into it. I must have a lemon.

Good except I heard that new and improved version is coming soon, so wait if you are in the market.

Switched to this (Intel)Mac Mini to better interface with my Apollo Twin X QUAD and this runs sooooo smoothly. Installing plugins for Ableton was a breeze! No issue getting any of them to show up in my plugins folder. Plus the form factor is so tiny! If I needed to take this for a mobile recording setup, I definitely could!

Hooking this unit up into my audio production chain was breeze. I restored my time machine backup of my old mac, and everything came up just fine. It even updated the OSX automatically. I mostly work with Izotope Ozone, Neutron, and RX Pro. I had to connect my Firewire 800 devices va a FW800 to Thunderbolt 2 dongle and connect that to a Thunderbolt 3 dongle, but it worked great. No loss in speed or quality. The added ram and storage at purchase was a real plus.

I gave up a 10 year old mini (finally) for this mini. Love it. Lots of storage, plenty of power.

Even with an eGPU and a Sapphire 580. If you get one, I recommend the Sonnet 350 watt eGPU. People complain that it messes with the small size of the mini but it sits on the floor. Too bad the longer TB3 cable is $50. Otherwise, you could be out the door for $400 for the eGPU and a good graphics card. The Intel graphics are way to anemic and Mohave makes the setup of an eGpu effortless. Just plug it in. Then click on get info for the application like Canon DPP and check use 580 graphic card box. Makes short work of camera raw file developing. I guess an iMac might make more sense after you add in a monitor. But if you want to add a Mac computer to an existing window system all you need is a USB sharing switch for the keyboard and mouse. Most monitors can handle multiple inputs.
