Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

Great computer at a great price. Used primarily for music production and online instruction. Only con is that the hard drive space is not that big but I can always use an external drive. Also the HDMI port gave me some problems when I connected to an external monitor. Had to use one of the USB C ports. Other than that, the computer works great!

I installed a 64GB ram on this baby. My work is software engineer, so no high demand on graphics. I connect to 4k monitor. Mac mini runs much quieter than my 2018 macbook pro 15”, due to almost no fan noise. And while it’s running, it’s not extremely hot. around 50-60 Celsius. I know I will sit at my desk most of the time, so mac mini is preferred than a laptop. Works great for me

Everything I expected from the new mini. Stable OS, excellent product design and overall performance. But there are some major issues with external connections. The Bluetooth and USB-A have issues when Wi-fi is active. Wi-fi has issues when Bluetooth is active. And so on. It’s a bit of a mess. Granted, I’m using a couple of hubs, multiple drives, a couple of Thunderbolt devices including a TB3 to PCIe card, etc. But my older, slower 2015 Macbook Pro handled it just fine. In the end, the solution was simple. Turn off wi-fi, use ethernet. That’s all it took, everything is great now. Weird, buggy, but still an excellent machine that I will use for years to come.

Two weeks in and all is great. It’s super fast which is what I needed for heavy photo retouching work. my only complaint is the super tinny speaker that I use to listen to the radio. I guess I’ll have to buy some bluetooth speakers.

Loved my 2012 MacBook Pro, I really stressed over a replacement – initially ordered 2018 MB Air from B&H which arrived damaged and did re-think. It did feel like a hasty compromise when I ordered the MBA. I thought about how I used my 2012 MBP – mostly in one location and plugged into an outlet. The intrigue of the Mac Mini bit and stuck. I wanted BT 5.0 and that wasn’t MADE available by Apple at the time. I liked the specs 3.0 chip, 256 GB etc and paired with Apple keyboard and mouse due to review complaints about connectivity with both devices. If there was an issue I would deliver all to the local Apple store and they could sort it out. I was really perplexed by Apple butterfly keyboard mechanism issues on their labtop line and their 4 year extended keyboard warranty from product introduction will roll around quickly. So Mac Mini with it’s compromises (quiet speaker volume, no FaceTime camera or microphone) was decided and the last hurdle was finding a smaller display so I did not accidently knock it over. There are essentially 2 decent quality 14-16

I7 6core 32g memory 1 tb ssd drive. fast looking to update memory 64 gig in year or if price drops to $150.fast computer any of the pro Mac would have been twice the price. Fast does everything i need. I did all the update like B&H said to do but it still say’s it 2018 mac mini.do not buy for advanced video Need external video card not for video gamer

Dont buy this if your looking for a desktop that has a GPU. However if you need a small form factor pc that can crunch tasks on a really good CPU than this is your machine. The disk speed and CPU performance are great for the price point/form factor and design. USBC/TB3 are welcome additions. Only took apple 10 years to update this.
