Apple has re-engineered the Mac mini with 8th Generation Intel Core processors, giving it even more power for industrial-grade tasks, such as home automation, giant render farms, running a live concert sound engine, or testing your latest iOS or iPadOS app. Along with improved system and graphics performance, an all-new thermal architecture includes all-flash storage, a bigger fan, expanded vents, and a redesigned power supply, and Apple’s T2 security chip. This Mac mini is powered by 3.6 GHz Intel Core i3 Quad-Core processor, while 8GB of 2666 MHz DDR4 RAM helps to ensure smooth multitasking and also allows the computer to quickly access frequently used files and programs.
Integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 delivers a sharp, clear picture, and you’ll be able to output video to an external display using the system’s Thunderbolt 3 ports, which feature native DisplayPort output, or use the built-in HDMI 2.0 port. Up to three 4K displays are supported between any two Thunderbolt 3 ports and the HDMI port, or you can connect one 5K display via THunderbolt 3 and one 4K display via HDMI 2.0.
For storage of your files, this Mac mini is equipped with a 256GB PCIe SSD that has a sequential read speed of up to 3.4 GB/s. If you want to add external peripherals, four Thunderbolt 3 ports support bi-directional transfer speeds of up to 40 Gb/s, while also supporting 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 2 (USB 3.1), device charging, and an external GPU. Thanks to two 5 Gb/s USB 3.1 Gen 1 (USB 3.0) Type-A ports, you’ll still be able to connect other devices to this system. Gigabit Ethernet is built in for wired networking, or use dual-band Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) for wireless networking. Bluetooth 5.0 technology will allow you to connect additional compatible peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and headsets. Sound is output using a 3.5mm headphone jack. Apple’s Mac mini operates using an internal 150W power supply that runs off 100-240 VAC at 50 to 60 Hz.
This Mac comes preloaded with macOS. Updates can be downloaded for free via the Mac App Store. Please check Apple’s website for upgrade eligibility.

First time buying apple product. I wanted to learn apple os for work and needed something where I can tinker with software. It’s a good product, but for the specs, too much money. However, wish it has ability to change SSD hard drive too. Only can change is memory.

So far, the Mac mini (2018) is everything I expected. Its incredibly fast and worked flawlessly with my eGPU (RX480, 8GB). My primary use case is Affinity Photo and routine tasks (email, web browsing, etc.).

I set this up as an HTPC and it works fine. 4K works great. I haven’t thrown anything at it with a higher bit rate than Youtube/Netflix standard, so I couldn’t say how well it can handle higher quality content. But for normal streaming services, it works well. I use both Mac and PC and I prefer PC for certain things, and Mac for other things. I will say that having a PC for an HTPC is better. The Mac mini is limited on the HTPC keyboards that actually work. Mac’s navigation isn’t nearly as easy at the PC for HTPC usage. Never-the-less, still a good machine.

Arrived as ordered. Took a little to recognize the wireless USB keyboard. Works great and fast

It’s very small and quiet, lots of ports (including USB-A!). Upgradable RAM is a wonderful alternative to soldered-on, hideously priced Apple Macbook RAM. Has the well-documented crackling audio and Bluetooth issues, plus difficulty waking from sleep. None are deal breakers, but I feel like this is probably the last Mac for me. The premium feel and sense of total reliability is gone, compared against my 2009 Mac Mini which is is still going and is even more upgradable. I got this Mac Mini as a nice compromise between the grossly underpowered or overpriced MacBooks, and I’m content with my choice.

I bought this little Mac mini to replace my 2011 iMac, what a great purchase! I was able to make the switch to external storage pretty quickly as I picked of the 128 ssd model. I need to work on cable management for sure with the hub that I am running to the Mac mini but it will all come together in time. Dedicated graphics are not an issue at this point but I do plan to pick up an egpu case and Vega card in the near future.

I was looking for some thing I could use for a multi media server in our RV and the Mac mini from B&H turned out to be a perfect fit for a great price

This Mac mini is a beast. It suits my needs and more. A major upgrade from my 2008 iMac that didn’t take the last two up os upgrades . It is very fast due to the SSD hard drive . Connect to 4K monitor and wow.

I was worried at first about it only having two USB 3 ports but a simple Thunderbolt 3 to USB adapter gave me more ports than my old Mini. Migration Assistant in the Mac OS made migrating to the new computer a breeze!

I enjoy this OS more than windows and Linux. Good integration with my iPhone.

This replaced a 11 year old mini, so I knew it would be an upgrade. The new computer really did blow me away though. It is totally silent and very fast. Does all I need and should last about 10 years like the last one. Worth the price, for sure, but here is why I think it’s not perfect. First, the RAM is practically impossible to upgrade. They either should make it easy to swap like in the past or have every machine have 16 GB as the minimum. Second, I need a DVD drive. So now I need an external solution -what a joke.

A great improvement over the dated Mac Pro I had been using for way too many years. Fast, quiet, small form factor, and it does all I need a computer to do. The only limiting factor is the number of ports for connecting printers, scanners, and other devices. A small aggravation, and easily remedied with adaptors and junction boxes to accommodate additional ports, to an otherwise stellar Mac. I appreciate the built in software for word processing and other functions.

This is my second Mac mini in less than a year. When my 27 iMac failed in mid 2018, the wife couldnt wait for the New Mac mini to be announced. I had to buy the first mini even though it was a 4 year-old design. I went bare-bones because I knew the New design was on its way. B&H came the with the best price. It was usable but clearly NOT a performer. The ultra slow speed left me frustrated most of the time. When the Improved Mac minis came out, It was time to reorder again. This time I went for most of the bells n whistles, but Apple delivery was a week to 10 days. B&H had it in stock for the right price and NOBODY provides Delivery and Service like B&H! It arrived quickly and when I booted it up, man, does this thing SCREAM performance! There is no hesitation what-so-ever with that SSD! Im happy, the wife is happy, whats not to like here? B&H,…you came thru again. Thank you!

I love this little guy. I’ve had many macs and am now retiring a 10 year old Mac Pro tower (my LightRoom/Photoshop machine). With ram boosted to 64GB, this will take its place with my drive raids converted to Thunderbolt and using my wonderful color calibrated monitor, my keyboard, etc. That’s the idea with the mini isn’t it? The big glitch I ran into is driving the older monitor at it’s full resolution (2560×1440) – all solutions I tried yielded 1660×1080! After much research I finally found a solution using a discontinued Apple mini display port dual link DVI- D adapter and a USBc Mini DisplayPort adapter and the old dvi cable.

I was planning on buying this same computer from Apple, but would have had to wait two weeks to get it in the configuration I wanted. BH Photo had it in stock and shipped it out quickly. On top of that I got interest free financing for a year. Excellent. I’ll definitely be back.
