Use the black Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro from Apple to give your tablet a feel that rivals laptops. With its floating cantilever design, your 3rd and 4th Generation 12.9″ iPad Pro magnetically attaches to the Magic Keyboard for smooth viewing angle adjustments. Its full-size, backlit keys feature a scissor mechanism with 1mm travel for fast and quiet typing. The keyboard also has a built-in multi-gesture touchpad that allows precise interaction with iPadOS applications. A USB Type-C pass-through charging port is located on the keyboard folio’s hinge, freeing the iPad Pro’s port for peripherals such as external storage drives. Once you’re done, the keyboard doubles as a cover that protects the front and back of your iPad Pro.

This is a great keyboard! I got it to use with my external monitor setup now that everyone is having to work from home during the COVID19 pandemic. This device has a beautiful low profile with a slight incline, which I have found to me much easier on my wrists than my regular laptop. The travel of the keys is also incredibly satisfying. My laptop has those micro-travel butterfly keys, which has its own appeal, I suppose. But the keys on this Magic keyboard have a deep and consistent travel, and they activate no matter where on the key you hit, making mistakes from sloppy typing easier to avoid. This is a great product, and I highly recommend it for any Apple users creating a desktop workspace.

I’ve been using my 11″ iPad Pro with the new Magic Keyboard since its launch and it’s a game-changer for professionals that need a robust typing tool for those looking for a compact and relatively lightweight workstation. While the iPad Pro is still relatively limited due to the OS (iPadOS 13), there are workarounds for those that are open to expanding/exploring new ways of using this combo for their needs. The 12.9″ iPad Pro with this Magic Keyboard takes things to a new level as the bigger screen with the full-size keyboard (similar in size to the 16″ MBP’s keyboard), you will see that the Magic Keyboard had turned the bigger 12.9″ into the defacto MacBook Pro 13″ LITE.

It’s good with the Space Gray mouse. You pay for the color not for the function but sometimes it’s nice to change your feeling with your dark mode desktop ;-p

That is what I said when I saw the price tag. Took the leap and glad I did. This thing is solid and creates a genuinely new experience. Bridges the gap to allowing the ipad to become a true laptop replacement. No escape key is annoying but you can assign the globe key or another not commonly used key to perform that function.

I am very excited to write this review on such a great product. I just love the device and must say that it is the best device that has been made for the IPad! Initially, there was a back order on this device and I was getting anxious about having to wait, but B & H customer service is top-notch and kept me updated on the availability. When I want to use my Macbook Pro with a external monitor with the cover closed the Magic Keyboard is a must. It is light, the battery last a lot before it is necessary to charge it.

First of all – the keyboard leaves no wishes open: Illuminated keys, touchpad, sturdy build which will protect the device, charging can be done through the keyboard, Device turns automatically on when the screen gets tilted (step 2 after opening), keys have enough depth to give a good type feeling. But what I really like about it is the sturdiness: You can open it, and put it onto your lap starting working. It is not like the other flappy things which fall apart once starting to type and which can simply not being used otherwise. Unfortunately this great feature comes also with a price: When you are trying to use the iPad in portrait mode, you want most likely to peel the tablet out of the keyboard folder as it is a tad awkward to use the tablet as a tablet. One comment for Apple to make it perfect: The plug for the USB-C charger in the keyboard is a round tube. Why not allow the user to put the pen in there for travelling? The UI got changed to be a bit playful when using the touchpad: E.g. when hovering the cursor (which is only a round circle) over e.g. icons, they wiggle around. Nice touch! Even though I wished that a Tap (like on a pc) is doing the click and not a real click would be required. What it didn’t do however was to give the device a more Pro feeling as the software is still the same (e.g. using Lightroom gives you still only the mobile version on a ~13 notebook screen with the limited feature set. Even moreso – I was astounded to see that even simpler programs like the gMail web version shows up only as the mobile version. Unfortunately there is a downside to this great keyboard: It is the magic price. One can get a nice notebook these days for the keyboard alone which is equally thin (or even thinner) than the iPad sandwich and can run really Pro applications with more features.
