Keep your data safe with the 480GB Aegis Secure Key 3.0 Flash Drive from Apricorn. This USB 3.0 drive is protected with 256-bit AES military grade hardware encryption and a seven to sixteen-digit PIN. Its drive reset feature clears pins, destroys data, and generates a new random encryption key for reuse.
The Aegis’ crush-resistant extruded aluminum chassis is tamper evident while an epoxy compound prevents the removal of internal circuitry without causing permanent damage. It automatically locks upon removal from the computer or loss of power, or after a pre-programmed period of inactivity.
To prevent the access of unauthorized individuals with keyloggers or brute force attacks, the Aegis has its own wear-resistant keypad for entry. The Brute Force Hack Defense Mechanism deletes the encryption key and all data if the incorrect PIN is entered up to a total of 20 consecutive times.

Bought this in combination with a Kanex iAdapt 6-in-1 Multiport USB Type-C Docking Station for 11 & 12.9 iPad Pro to secure files while I travel Works well. Two things to avoid disconnects onthe iPad: (1) Disable the Unattended auto-lock feature. (2) Activate Lock-override mode.

I have owned several versions of this drive over the years. This one is a little larger and easier to use the keypad. I opted for this model over the other model available as this one had a case that covers the entire keypad. The device does run a little hot, or should I say very, very warm to the touch. I looked online and there have been several posts regarding this. The company responded that this is normal. One irritant is the rubber seal where the end of the cover meets the device to seal out moisture, dirt, etc. It is a bit flimsy and several times it has come loose when removing the cover. My older model Aegis thumb drive has a much better rubber seal and has never come loose after many years.

My employer provided two of the 240GB versions and both failed in about 1 year. I feel it is a result of how hot they get. They may last longer if not connected for very long but I needed them connected at times for over 8 hours. Currently trying a 60GB, which does not get as hot as the 240GB.

Read/Write Speed is excellent. Buttons are small but it’s difficult to mispush other buttons. On the other hand, Price is a little bit high even if this Flash Drive guarantees High Security.
