Before we had this installed, our faucets (kitchen, vanity, bathtub, showers) were covered and rotting away from scale buildup. We’ve also had two washing machines destroyed by these buildups. My hair was dry, brittle and badly damaged. I wasn’t aware that the hard water from scale had built up so much that it took most of my hair out before I researched and found that “scale” and hard water can contribute to hair loss. I’m seeing much changes happening since the installation: No more spotty build-up around faucets. I still continue to use vinegar to rinse my dishes after washing because I believe it will take some time for pipes to return to normal state (from buildup inside).

I purchased whole house filtration system from Aquasana, SimplySoft Salt Free Water Softener is NOT a softener. It is descaler, it makes the particles very small, but do not soften the water. I have checked my water hardness and it reached level of 456 mg/l CaCO3. I spoke with Aquasana customer service and was told that only option to soften the water is to remove their SimplySoft “Softener” and install Salt Water Softener. After spending 2000$ for a system that should take care of my water problems I need to spend another 500$ to make it right. Aquasana water filters and UV light works 100% good, but adding 700$ “softener” should be reconsidered by customers.

I really like have a salt free water softener because we have an on site septic system as salt is bad for septic systems it causes hard pan in the soil. I also like how long the main filters last and the filter cartridges are easy to replace

I had a lot of trouble with calcium built up on my appliances and toilet bowl from our hard well water. I purchased this whole house water softener to save my appliances. My husband installed it in about half a day. We had to cut some pipes and move our hot water heater to make room for this filter. I am so happy and releived now that my toilet is clean looking and so far it works. Compared to other systems, the filter is reasonably prices and the whole system was also a great price. It didn’t take too much room between our well tank and our hot water heater. This should also save our hot water heater. I am satisfied with my purchase.

They claim it prevents scale. There is no way to determine if it is actually working. I recommend to the company that they invent some sort of visual test device. For example, a copper pipe with clear window before and after the unit. You look in the window and see buildup in the pipe before the unit, and that it isn’t happening to the pipe after the unit. But other than that, it’s completely a “trust me” situation.

Pro: I like the Aquasana system for its simplicity, and no salt only filters to change periodically.Con: There weren’t any instruction with the system on assembly of the unit, only a colored diagram of the assembled system. There needs to be drains in the bottom of the pre filter and the micron filter to drain the water before changing the filters or the water sprays all over.
