Overall an excellent system. It was a little difficult to install, but with the right adapters I was able to get it completely installed in a couple of hours. Water is clean clear and tastes great.

Installation was straight forward, but the instructions leave a lot to be desired, ie. all there is, is a picture of the completed install. Very few instructions. It would be helpful to show the plumbing “behind” the wall. That picture is far from a “normal” install. We flushed the tanks as directed, but after installing, there was still a significant amount of carbon coming out of the closest faucet. I also drained and flushed the water heater to make sure I had all the carbon out of that. Would have been nice to know that ahead of time, and run a bit of water into a bucket before completing the connection back into the house and contaminating all the lines. The water immediately tasted better (like bottled water). My wife and I both noticed softer water when showering, and she doesn’t have to use fabric softener when washing bath towels. The dishwasher also works better, and less scaling on the glasses. I have noticed that there is almost no scale buildup on the faucets or shower heads. However, the scale that was on the shower head has not been cleared off after two months of use. Not a big deal, I can clean that to then insure scale buildup does not come back.

My renter complained about the hard well water at our property and I researched a few whole house softener options. I was wary of the salt-free softeners since I had read mixed reviews but was also apprehensive about traditional softeners that required regular salt additions as well as had adverse environmental impact. I settled on Aquasana purely on a whim. So far my renter is happy :): “…our skin and hair is back to normal and the dishes are looking amazing…”.Overall, initial (second hand!) impressions are good (couple weeks of use) and we’ll keep an eye on future maintenance and durability.

I really have not had the system long enough to give a solid review. I have noticed a bit of black staining in my toilets, but have not cleaned them yet to know if it comes off easy.

It works but not 100%. The water in Brookfield CTis super hard and with this softener we still get about half the hard water deposits plus the fact that the broken down molecules travel back into the water is not helpful. I still can not run the dish washer without spots and if i boil the water the pot is chalky white. Maybe the traditional salt softener would have been a better choice.
