Boost the speed, reliability, and range of your home wireless network with the RT-AC68U Dual-Band Wireless-AC1900 Gigabit Wi-Fi Router from ASUS. Capable of up to 1900 Mb/s of total Wi-Fi throughput, this dual-band Wi-Fi 5 router supports AiMesh technology, which lets you use multiple AiMesh-enabled routers together to create a single, seamless Wi-Fi network.
The RT-AC68U comes equipped with a Gigabit Ethernet WAN port and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports, ideal for wired connections to computers, game consoles, TV set-top boxes, or another AiMesh router. USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 2.0 Type-A ports let you connect printers, storage devices, and other USB devices to the network. AiProtection Pro service helps to defend your network from online threats, while parental controls let you decide how and when your kids can connect to the internet. Up to three guest networks let you grant Wi-Fi access to visitors without having to compromise your Wi-Fi password.

Bought this router exactly 15 months ago and it worked like a charm. Setup was a breeze and connected devices were snappy. I was happy … until a month ago. Had to reboot router quite often as the WiFi on both frequencies would disconnect and the wireless indicator on the router would not be illuminated. When this happened, I would also lose connectivity on wired devices as well. I updated firmware, did a factory reset and reconfigured the router and it worked for a day. The issue returned. I disabled all the unnecessary options but still no luck. Last night the WiFi lights stopped coming on and all wired devices stopped getting ip addresses. Turns out the router wasn’t completing the boot cycle. Did another factory reset and reinstalled latest firmware. Was able to log in to the router but the software now tells me that this is not an Asus device and the firmware will not work. I tried a previous version of the firmware that I have saved on my computer .. same issue. So now my router is offically dead only 15 months after purchase which also happens to be just outside of warranty. Time to move on to another brand. Very disappointing for a high-end router.

This is a router I use for my home office. The clients connected to it are both wired and wireless. With a 200 Mbps connection, I am actually seeing the same overall speeds on both Wifi (5GHz class AC) and gigabit ethernet wire. To benefit from it, you will need to have modern devices, but your future computers/phones should be able to benefit from the speed. It was very easy to setup, both as an initial use (all DHCP), and for advanced settings (aka part fixed IP based on MAC, NAT, etc) One feature that can be easily missed but I found a nice addition, is the possibility to switch off all the LEDs. This is something very useful to not get distracted at night by network activity!

There is nothing not to like about this router. If you know absolutely nothing about networks and routers, no problem, this baby will configure everything for you in a snap. If on the other hand you are a power user, you have almost limitless configuration options, you name it. As far as performance goes, this is by far the best performing router I’ve tried, no comparison.

Purchased two of these units for use as a mesh network and they work great. Lots of capabilities for the home networking enthusiast looking for more control or a deeper dive. GUI is intuitive and the mobile app is just as impressive. Good level of customization including up to whether or not you wish for the unit to illuminate the LED status lights. Adding the second unit was actually easier to do via the mobile app – just scan for a new node and in under 5 min. it is setup (once the main unit is setup to broadcast an SSID etc.).

I bought this to replace an older did-wrt router to use in our business. I thought I may have to flash it with an actual did-wrt build, but Asus has done a great job with their own version of it. it took a while yonder it up, but that’s only because I had many advanced settings to apply. Very fast modem, great range, and excellent firmware. The only issue I have with it is its size – I wish it were a bit more compact. Not a big issue, however. I’m completely pleased with it!

I bought this router to use as a master and connecting it via ethernet cable to another Asus router I already own as an access point (AP). That was to cover both ends of a new house and I wasn’t sure one router would do it. The RT-AC68U has such a powerful pair of signals, 2.4 and amazingly 5.0 that I may only need one router but will use two anyway. What the heck, I already own both.

Bought this router to replace an aging Linksys. So far, it has been rock solid with 2 TV’s streaming Hulu and Netflix, and multiple phones/tablets. My old router would easily get bogged down regularly with that much going at the same time. Setup was very easy and I am not a tech type person at all. Would recommend this router to anyone.
